It was 4:03 in the morning when Teddy arrived at the hospital. His heart fluttered nervously around his chest as he passed through the lobby and into one of the gleaming elevators, pressing the button to the third floor labeled “LABOR & DELIVERY”. The crinkly plastic around the bouquet was damp from the sweat of his palm. The doors of the elevator opened into the sterile brightness of a hospital wing, and Teddy walked briskly to the reception and signed the sheet with a shaking hand. He forced his hair to stay the same, icy shade of blue. The receptionist asked him something but his mind was too frazzled to process it. “Weasley. Victoire Weasley.” Teddy said, hoping that was the right answer. The woman scanned her computer screen closely, mouthing the name ‘Weasley’ repeatedly until she found it. “Ah, there it is. Fourth door down to the right. Room 8.” The woman smiled, gesturing down the hallway. Teddy thanked her and proceeded, walking towards the little room, crinkling the bouquet in his hands as he neared it. The door was shut, and no light came from beneath the door. Teddy chewed his lips, and knocked lightly on the door before opening it. The room was dark, so dark in contrast to the blinding hall that it took a good few moments for Teddy’s eyes to adjust. He could make out the shape of the bed, surrounded by the little glowing screens of the monitors, and he could see and hear movement on the bed as he entered. Teddy smiled as his eyes adjusted, and Vic came into focus. “Hey.” He said, quietly as he approached the bed. It was easy to make out the swollen shape of her belly, even in such dim light. Teddy set the flowers carefully on the little desk beside her, and pulled up a chair to sit. His chest swelled with happiness. “How are you?” He said, keeping his voice just above a whisper. One of the monitors beeped, casually.
