Most people wouldn’t willingly walk into this situation. Standing on a dark empty space with a strange man she’d just met that very day, cady didn’t care much for what most people would’ve done in her situation. She wasn’t like most people anyway. She’d never been like most people. Most people would’ve been cautious, she was simply excited to discover a new place. They had to climb over a few fences, and she was pretty sure they were trespassing, but it was beautiful out here in this quiet field. The stars were sparkling, and the moon was shining a soft light on them. And yet her first thought wasn’t the serenity she found being here, but just how perfect this place was to play with fire and not having to worry about someone getting hurt. But that was neither here nor there. She couldn’t play with fire at the moment anyway, lest she scare away Ariel. After all, he seemed pretty stressed out over her routine already. He’d probably die of shock if he found out she actually controlled fire. “So is this the part where you murder me?” she teased, turning to the man who had brought her there and breaking the silence.

The last of her audience had left her tent and the Calaesant Cady was a little less dazzling as she entered the stage. Her hair was down, and she was wearing clothes that looked much more comfortable than what she wore during her performance. The entertainer began cleaning up after her act, preparing the space for the next show. She heard a rustle at the entrance of the tent, “I’m afraid the show’s over--” she paused as she turned around and saw the familiar face. Cady grinned. “--never mind, I didn’t know it was you. Hey. What’s up?”

“Oh, come on,” Cady grinned moving closer to Stephen, resting her head against his shoulder. “It’s okay to admit that you missed me.”

One could see all kinds of people inside of a carnival-- young, old, rich, poor, people of all colors, shapes, sizes. But what was odd in this one circumstance for Cady was that she met a woman who looked exactly like her. She was sitting on the ferris wheel alone when the operator let someone else inside her capsule and she was honestly a little too freaked out to talk when she realized she was looking at a prim and proper version of her. Now, Cady had a lot of out-of-this-world experiences considering she did grow up in the carnival but this was by far the weirdest. She couldn’t help but stare at the woman-- but could you blame her?

She drew a deep breath, letting it out with a shaky sigh. Cady still couldn't believe she was here on a plane to San Fransisco, but that was easier to believe than the fact that she had been cheated on by her two year boyfriend. She didn't pay much attention to the PA announcements as all she tried to keep herself from breaking down. She counted silently in her head one, two, three... her eyes wandered around the cabin... four, five, six, seven... they were finally moving and she was finally going to be far away from him... eight, nine, ten... her eyes landed on the man sitting next to her and she smiled a feeble smile.

She gathered up her files one more time, flipping carefully through the pages and making sure they were complete before she pushed the restaurant door open. Cady placed on a warm smile on her lips as she tread forward to the counter. "Hi," she greeted. "I'm here regarding the job vacancy..." She really needed this job. She'd take any job in fact. Anything to feel less of a burden to her roommate who'd been paying the bills for the past two months.
