It's sickening. He's begged, he's begged so many times. Dream's an actor, he knows when to bow and which cards to play. But the thing about Sam is he fucking meant it. When he was pinned down, and bloody, and in pain, he begged for the most basic mercy.

The silence across the lava was never not deafening to him. Above his own screams, above Quackity's glee.

He's doing this for himself. He can admit that.

For once what makes him draw his weapon and bare his teeth in despise is not the faith on his goal.

It's his limping, painful leg that has been broken more times he can count. It's his throat that still scratches from ignored screams. It's his still recovering body from months of the poorest diet possible.

The pickaxe sinks into the wall. So does blood.

And when Sam's dead eyes can no longer see him, Dream falls to his knees, and through the fading, exhausting, blinding rage he draws a breath.

If someone's able to pass through the prison undetected with merely the help of an invisibility potion and a fire resistance potion, that's on Sam. If he created a prison that could only detect a trespasser based solely on being able to see them, that's on Sam. If a trespasser can make it all the way to the cell holding the most dangerous criminal on the server -- undetected -- that's. on. Sam.

That's three times he's majorly fucked up now -- he's let two people die at the hands of Dream, he's let Tommy pass through the prison without his knowledge, AND he's continuing to allow Quackity to enter the prison cell every day with weapons, completely against the protocol.
