Why had he thought moving in together would change things for the better? That they finally had figured it out. The house, the stray dog which had one day appeared at their door within the first two weeks after moving in and as of yesterday a stray cat had joined their living arrangement. It had been like a honeymoon phase. Everything had felt too good to be true. Today nothing was the same and Nick couldn't figure out why that was. Reason why he had left their place to begin with. As if the fresh air held all the answers. However, he hadn't expected Trevor to follow him. Not when he so clearly had given him the feeling that he needed space. Ironically enough it had began to rain, slowly soaking their clothes while they gave curious neighbors a taste of how fucked up they really were. “I’ll crash at Alicia’s.” It was his final statement while turning to leave. Yet the hand which gripped him firmly prevented him from following through with it. Made him turn back even. “Geez, what do you want, huh? Tell me, Trevor. What do you w —” He never got to finish that sentence when the other suddenly claimed his mouth. Successfully shutting him up. Words hardly ever worked between them, their bodies were always the ones doing the talking and the way Nick's was practically welcoming it, leaning into the familiarity of the other's? It understood the message. I love you. Please, stay.

The tension was heavy, almost touchable between them and dark hues briefly lowered to the other's lips at those words. Yet Nick didn't make a move. Instead his gaze traveled back up, taking in that unfairly attractive face so close in front of him. He had been wondering about it too after all. “Why don't you find it out then?” An invitation, a challenge to see if the other would actually do it. Dared to break the rules for a little make out session.

"I'M GOING TO SAVE YOUR LIFE" PROMPTS

It was bound to happen, them getting separated due to unfortunate events. Thanks to some trigger-happy group patrolling the streets, Nick had been forced to head in a complete different direction than they had planned out for their scouting trip. By the time he had found a place to hold out safely, he wasn't exactly sure which direction would lead him back to the other. So, Nick being Nick, he had tried to make the best out of his situation. It wasn't the first time he had been on his own after all. However, it all got a tad more complicated when a pack of stray dogs attacked him. Too his luck, one had gotten him at his right calf and of course, the pharmacies he could find had been all long raided, leaving him with no other option but to temporarily take care of it with the little he could find.

He was in the middle of bandaging it with some fabric and duck tape when a shadow fell from the open door, catching his attention. However, the last he expected was Trevor's familiar figure to greet him and for a second he wanted to question what his eyes were perceiving. It had been what, a day or two? Since he had last seen the man and yet, it felt so much longer than that. If there had been any doubts left the first words spoken eliminated all of them.

Had he wondered if the other had even considered looking for him? Of course. But how had he known Nick hadn't made a run for it? It wouldn't have been far fetched to assume he had gained enough trust to finally make his escape. Noah certainly jumped at that thought, fed Trevor's mind with all kinds of ideas which obviously couldn't have been further from the truth.

"How did you find me?" The relief washing over his body was evident within his voice while dark orbs fixated on the male. Nick didn't care about the angry expression that he was granted. Would take it any time over anything else in this moment. He couldn't believe he was thinking it, but he was actually glad he had been found.

This was supposed to be an exercise that should help him learn to express himself in more ways than one. Nick had labeled it ridiculous simply for the reason that he didn't want to write anything down. Didn't want to write to anyone. However, if he wanted to prevent another relapse in the future he should at least give it a try. Show that he was serious about a successful recovery. So, reluctantly the pen was picked up, head rested on his other hand as he began to write.

you’re fucking confusing. Possibly this is all just a game to you and I really have been the foolish one to believe there is a connection there was a connection between us. That you had been into it just as much. Maybe it was the case when you had been put onto whatever goddamn meds they had given you and it changed when you stopped taking them after your release. Maybe it wasn't the meds, only you having a change of heart. Possibly I should have accepted it the first time you kicked me out. Shouldn’t have continued bothering you, even though you kept opening the door, kept letting me hold onto you when some nights were darker than others. In a fucked up way I truly kept believing you gave a damn. That you care about me. Maybe you do? Just not the same way as I do…

The pen kept hovering over the paper while dark brown hues skipped over the written words. In a sudden movement he drew a large X across the paper, crossing everything out before he crumple up the whole thing and let it disappear in the pocket of his hoodie. No, this is not going to be read by anyone.

REASONS TO CARRY SOMEONE

If anyone had told him he’d move into an affordable house with Trevor, he would have laughed into their face. Their constant back and forth had been speaking for itself and yet, after carrying all their things inside and simply standing outside, looking at their new home, it didn't feel weird. It felt like the most natural thing, the logical step.

Upon noticing movement in the corner of his eyes Nick turned, yet before he knew it his not boyfriend had already grabbed him by the back of his thighs, picking him up. “What are you doing?” Arms instinctively wrapped around the male's neck to hold onto him and he could swear there was this familiar little smile upon the man’s face, the one you only notice when you knew what to look for. So, he didn't bother to wrap his legs around the other as well, no, he let them dangle at each side of Trevor's waist. All Nick did was duck his head a bit when he was carried over the threshold, then couldn't help but chuckle. “Romantic. Are you gonna do it again when there's a ring on this finger?” He asked jokingly and wiggled his ring finger in Trevor's view.

There was a moment of silence, room given for the question to linger in the air between them for a moment. “No reason.” With that he averted his gaze while taking a drag from one of the cigarettes they had gotten a hold on while scouting for the next raid target. Nick wasn't sure how long he has been part of this group now, has been a captive despite walking around freely, yet he couldn't deny how normal it felt being out here with Trevor. Go against what he believed in. He didn't want to find groups so they could suffer the same fate his had and yet, Nick was playing along for the most part. Might erase evidence if given the chance and wondering if the golden soldier at his side really hadn't picked up on it yet or if he wanted to see how far he was going to go with it. All the chances Nick actually had and he still hadn't made a run for it. The strangest though, he couldn't even tell why if asked.
