Y’all ever sat around and questioned intelligence? Like some of us will get aggravated because of improper word usage because of homophones (witch or aye waist of thyme), or incorrect spelling or grammar usage. Etc etc. as if English is the only language. Try to hold a conversation with someone who’s language you do not speak. Man it’s hard. Not because You’re stupid but because you simply do not know. And that’s okay. Or or “common sense” we often say people lack “common sense” because they don’t live their life like the majority. Or do they? Because we hear often “common sense ain’t common” I believe true intelligence is what we do without thinking or what intuition tells us. How our bodies communicate and respond to other things. Love. Water. Sex. That’s intelligence to me. #ByeJohn

Last night one of our neighbors warned us of a potential fine for burning wood in our back yard. I told a few people not to come because of temporary moment of fear. I still wanted to release some things under the moon, fear being one of them. I write the things I wanted to release and let them burn. It immediately worked. I let it burn. Didn’t text anyone else not to come and allowed them to come and release as well. @chelleamber made a taco bake. @imjalisaroberts sage’d and sprayed everyone with lavender water. The moon showed love. It was lit! Shout out to @bitterclearbelly, @thadimplezz, @marinajazelle, & @chailascott (and Michelle) for coming and allowing themselves to be vulnerable. It was love. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••• As the wood turned to embers we were trying to figure out what you see pictured looks like. This morning I realize it looks like lava. One of the essential building blocks for Earth and life as we know it. We all released and received things, made some connections, I even spit a poem lol. I think it’s safe to say everyone left feeling better than what they felt when they arrived. ✊🏾🔥🌑 #byejohn

• Selfish • ••••••••••••••••••••••• I feel like the idea of being selfless is just conscious selfishness... ••••••••••••••••••••••• That selflessness doesn’t really exist because if you remove self from any service who’s doing the act? ••••••••••••••••••••••• I used to be caught up with the whole idea of being “selfless” that I’d burn myself out or beat myself up for wanting to do something for myself instead of others. I ended up being no good to anybody cuz I didn’t think of myself first. I was empty. •••••••••••••••••••••• Today, I’m selfish. If I’m not right outside and within, I can’t help anyone. And it’s not that I don’t care. It’s that I care enough about you that if I know I cannot help at the moment, I’m going to take care me first and share that energy with whomever or whatever is attracting it. ••••••••••••••••••••••• Love yourself. • The Jungle • I never really could explain why I always felt at home in nature. Growing up in Uptown, New Orleans, all I was privileged to for the most part was city park and Audubon Park. I loved being around the water and trees. One of my greatest experiences was hiking on the rain forest in Puerto Rico. I’m sitting here watching #PlanetEarthII and it hits me. I feel at home because the forest, the jungle... is Eden. And if you think about the story in the Bible (I’m not Christian but I appreciate some of the stories) we weren’t supposed to leave the garden and we did. I try to return home as much as I can. #ByeJohn ✊🏾

I’ve always been a lover of love, just as much as I love sex. And for me the sex is always better when theirs love present. And I mean just that. I don’t necessarily have to love the person I’m having sex with, I love myself enough to be present in the moment. Which is why I feel I’m able to appreciate what some see as “casual sex.” I quoted that because how casual sex is defined by most I don’t. I believe in establishing connections with people. As long as I make some type of connection with you and maintain that connection, if we happen to have sex along the way it isn’t casual to me. If you are a complete stranger and we have sex that’s casual to me. Of course there’s levels to it. If I love myself, my partner loves herself, and we love each other, the sex is destined to be orgasmic. This shirt comes from an event I help put together every summer called #SexvsLoveNOLA.
