Ok so I regained access to my Buttercam account yet again, but funny how it only has my old photos from back in Brunei & my more recent photos aren't there. IIRC I logged in this account & changed my pfp like 5 years ago.
Or maybe I accidentally made a new account & posted those there and the one I'm logged in now is an older account
AH wait, yeah. Here's the account with the newer photos
Unfortunately I don't have access to that one anymore. Somehow accessing Chinese apps from other countries require extra effort, that's just how I was with Tuding, Fotoplace, Kwai & Nice (OneNiceApp) as well. I had to log in via WeChat which I don't use anymore because the app is heavy af & none of my friends hang out there like we used to, so reinstalling & uninstalling WeChat just to log in these apps is kind of a hassle.
And dont ask me why I use these apps while not understanding the language either. China has LOADS of Instagram alternatives which I really had to try.
Right off the bat it's even got camera types, for when you're feeling retrocam-y & want to snap a shot with different effects.
I really like the filters & adjustments they've got here, it seems complete & on par with Google Photos & Instagram.
And finally you can caption your posts & add hashtags before posting them. Mind you unlike Instagram once you post in Buttercam you can't edit the post again so don't rush, think of the right caption & make sure the hashtags are written correctly and THEN click submit.
Yeah the connection seemed to not work well here despite the wifi being strong enough at maximum speed. Sometimes a lot of posts could take up queueing like this.
First post after years of inactivity, it's me watching Dungeon Meshi while eating my fav toasts from Grainsly and SaladStop.
One thing I don't like about this app is there's no 'copy link' option. I like my photos to be visible via link. It doesn't even have to be my profile, just the photos would be nice cuz I'd wanna embed them in blogs or send links to friends. Buttercam doesn't have that and instead only lets me download my photos or share to other apps as posts/photos and not a link to the Buttercam posts.
But I guess, for some people who appreciate their privacy, those type of people who keep their Instagram accounts private, this feature is a plus cuz no one can see your posts unless they have the app & no one's gonna link your posts to everyone outside the app.
I guess that's a plus if you're a private person who like their profiles locked & only friends can see them. But where I came from, during the early days of Instagram my friends who used the app crossposted to FB & each of their IG photos had links directing to the corresponding IG posts, and I didn't have Instagram yet so I used all the alternative apps & manually copied & pasted the links along with my fb posts hoping people would visit the links & see my posts & profile.
The settings is kinda like any other app settings, I haven't explored much, but what i like about it is we can change display icons (the pic that loads before your display pic).
Heres what the message section looks like, users can chat but since I have no friends here all i get was notifications from the app, and their cute butter mascot.
---- EDIT: This post had been sitting in my draft for 2 years before I decided to continue writing & uploading it now, cuz there was that one time where my Tumblr got accidentally deleted before they restored it 5 months later. And hey if y'all wanna give Buttercam a try it's available on the App Store & QQ (for Android phones).
