indigo: two weaknesses

From a technical standpoint, Vulpes’ Endurance is his lowest S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat, falling into the “Handle With Care” category on the Vigor Tester. It’s self-explanatory as far as weaknesses go, but I personally interpret it as more than just a low health bar. I’d go as far as to say Vulpes probably has a lower pain tolerance than most (which is ironic considering how much pain he’s gladly inflicted on other people) - and he’d also take longer to recover from a dose of rads or poison.

Besides physical weaknesses, Vulpes also has an extremely limited worldview. This is best demonstrated by his first meeting with the courier in Nipton, where he expects them to do as he says without any rational incentive (besides not getting crucified). The courier is viewed as a tool, conveniently placed in his path. It’s easy to see how someone who grew up brainwashed, in the legion’s restrictive and authoritarian society, might only recognize one purpose for their interactions with other people: to further the legion’s agenda. Living with such a single-minded perspective would result in a serious loss of opportunity, personally and interpersonally - although Vulpes’ perspective does change for the better in a few of the verses I use on this blog.

violet: one thing i love

This is tough to consider. I would argue that Vulpes appreciates silence - solitude - more than anything. He clearly despises the gaudiness of the strip and the complex bureaucracy that drives the NCR. And while Vulpes idolizes Caesar, the legion’s various players aren’t always unified in their actions and opinions. He would never openly acknowledge them,but Vulpes is aware of the legion’s many flaws, and I personally don’t think that he’d ever feel at peace in legion territory.
