A seedling will burst forth in God's timing
âDonât assume nothing is growing. While you are planting seeds, he is growing you. Letâs not forget that we are fields, not just farmers. Deep spiritual growth is happening under the surface. A seedling will burst forth. In his will . . . his way . . . his timing.â- Jennifer Dukes Lee
âSo letâs not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we donât give up, or quit.â- Galatians 6:9 (MSG)
In Chapter 6 (âYou are Not Falling Behindâ) of Growing Slow, Jennifer Dukes Lee offers an important insight about your pace of growth. No set milestones exist!
Therefore, donât feel like you want to give up because your growth fails to match the progress of others. God sees your progress and knows youâre making a difference. For the harvest comes in its time. Youâre not falling behind. Think the tortoise and the hare. So, Jennifer exhorts:
âLook around you. There is growth in your fields, inching heavenward, not with brute force, but by the will of the Divine Farmer who makes all things beautiful in their time.â
Above all, Jennifer stresses, Growing Slow centers on living at peace with Godâs timing. For example, in the book of Acts Jesus presented Himself bodily to His followers. After He offered instructions, He ascended into heaven. Essentially, the followers asked one question as they gazed at the empty sky: When?
Hence, Jennifer adds:
âI know what it feels like to stand under a wide-open sky and wonder if Godâs promises will unfold â or if I even heard him correctly. We all ask it. When is it my turn? Jesus answers clearly, âYou donât get to know the time. Timing is the Fatherâs business.â â
Finally, donât forget that Godâs with you in your time of slow and imperceptible growth. As a result, when you see that growth, take time to offer a prayer of thanks. And hold that gently bursting forth of an everyday miracle close to your heart.
Todayâs question: What helps you hope that a seedling will burst forth? Please share.

BURST FORTH RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE
With #PoorTraits2020 on the horizon, guitarist Taylor Roberds is also bringing to fruition his own solo project, Burst Forth.
âTwilight Zoneâ has a stripped-back punk sound, Roberds singing of grating memories and the detachment that followed. Poor Traits bandmate Alex Badger contributed backing vocals, with members of Gleneagle filling out the somber narrative on drums, bass, and synth.

I feel like...
I feel like I need to say something big... But I donât know what it is. About life, current events (Which I know little of)... something profound and beautiful. But I do not know what it is I am dying to say. I only know the feeling of it, wanting to burst forth like a butterfly bursts out of itâs cacoon and is beautiful. When I know, I will tell you. For now, we wait for this profound speech to come forth.
