Kids
Today my daughters have their first ever Brownies meeting with the Girl Guides of Canada. So excited for them.
They have been unruly, over energized, whiny, fighting, and just plain nasty lately. What a great way to get them to burn some energy than with a group of girls their own age who will be doing all sorts of activities.
For girls ages 7 and 8 Brownie Units meet once a week, usually for an hour and a half
The hands-on Brownies program is all about encouraging girls to develop their own identity and positive relationships with others. Brownies gain confidence by learning skills that they can use in their daily lives and develop a commitment to their communities through service projects and special events. Programming covers safety and healthy choices, science and technology, the arts and eco-awareness and camping.
Sample activities may include:
Learning about healthy friendships
Community service projects
Celebrating different cultures
Finding out how to use basic tools, like screwdrivers and hammers
Planning menus for healthy eating
Visiting an artist's studio
Planting an edible garden
Learning how to build and light a fire
