They’d found her already, and they were more prepared this time. Eight of them were slowly surrounding her, while two vans blocked off each end of the alley, no doubt filled with more agents ready to leap in if she exhausted herself on the first wave. They had guns, too--they wouldn’t kill her, but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t hurt her. 

Luckily, however, Eleven wasn’t so restricted. She just needed to time it right.

They were getting closer now, and she let herself be backed against the wall. When they were almost near enough to reach out and grab her, Eleven focused, her head jerking slightly to one side as all eight men dropped dead around her, their necks broken all at once.

With the end of Promare (now that the sentient lifeforms have returned to their own universe), the world has returned to normal once again! The people who were once called Burnish are now fire-less humans once more. Governor Kray Foresight, who was charged with crimes against humanity, negligence that almost destroyed the planet, and murdering an old man, has been locked away in prison for a record-breaking life sentence. His fire fighting foundation, Burning Rescue, is understandably under new management and continues to do the city of Promepolis a heroic service by combating fires all around. However, the former Foresight Foundation was forcibly shut down following the fall of its namesake founder, Kray Foresight; in its place, the Phoenix Foundation* was formed! Inspired by lead scientist, Heris Ardebit, the Phoenix Foundation’s mission is to adapt the anti-Burnish and developmental technology of the Forsight Foundation and reimplement it to better use as the technology of the future - of Earth’s future!

*All characters and organizations are purely fictional and any relevance to real names are a coincidence.

“So as you can see, we of the Phoenix Foundation wish to take an active approach to making up for the crimes we were a part of. That is the reason that I have invited you both here today. I was hoping.. maybe we could collaborate with Burning Rescue. Two of Kray Foresight’s former organizations, united once more, but this time instead of combating Burnish, we wish to offer reparations and apologize to the victims of our wrongdoings. And, erm.. since you were the leading spokesman of Mad Burnish, I, uh, I thought it would be good to hear your opinion on our goals and current plans for development!! I mean! Only if you’d like!!!”

A drop of sweat slid down Heris’s forehead and her voice shook speaking to the two members of Burning Rescue. One of the two was Galo Thymos, a good friend of her sister and someone you could always depend on. He was easy to talk to, but the other.... Heris’s glasses shined white reflecting the sharp glare of Lio Fotia - the former leader of Mad Burnish. Considering his prominent role in saving the world, she was looking forward to Lio’s help and support for the Phoenix Foundation’s future projects, but if anything could by said judging by his expression alone right now, it was that he did not like her or the Phoenix Foundation at all.

“So....... Right this way please!!!” Heris quickly turned her back on the two and started walking. It felt like if she saw that stare of disapproval for a minute longer she might start crying. “I just need to show them our work so far... Then he’ll understand....” She quietly reassures herself.

Behind her, Lio turned his attention to Galo, frown not wavering and arms coated in the large sleeves of the Burning Rescue uniform jacket were crossed tightly across his chest. 

He’d been curious as to just why Lio wanted to speak to him in person, but it all made sense in mere moments. Two days have passed since his birthday, and of course the fire station surprised him with the standard pizza party that he’d been elated to have with friends. However, the Mad Burnish crew weren't in sight. 

“You remembered?” He asked in awe, accepting the box. It was a shame he had to pull apart the ribbon to get into the box. It seemed like he was taking apart a work of art. Dropping the lid, he nearly dropped the rest of the box as soon as he spotted the contents with a loud shout of awe. 

“WOAH! THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER!” His eyes are bright with childish excitement and curiosity, bringing the box closer to his face to examine the contents, almost afraid to touch it incase he ruined it somehow. This it occurred to him that he was forgetting something.

summers in california tended to get hotter than hell. galo had lost count of how many days in a row had been at least a hundred degrees or higher. however, due to the air conditioning practically blasting at night, galo’s room had the tendency to completely turn into an ice box.

lio was curled on his side, turned on his side so he was facing galo and looking him in the eye. the small young man took the edge of the comforter and pulled it up and over his shoulders. just as he looked like he was getting comfortable, he grabbed a stray corner that was draped over his knee and shyly handed it to galo.
