That is the point.

The point of the weapon, is that it will not kill you. You will get cut, it will hurt like stabbing, then it will burn you. You will not bleed, but you will be in pain, lying on the battlefield, wishing death would take you as you lay with either dead or fellow in pain bodies.

Have you ever heard the torture of 1000 cuts, where you slowly bleed to death? Now use a hot blade, where the wounds cauterize and all that torture gives you is pain but no release of death from bloodloss.
