inside the gift bag contains a handmade fathers day card depicting the both of them, a colorful bracelet with a packet of candy cigarrettes, an autographed picture of bigfoot, a wacky watch and finally a little handmade award with an engraving that says " best detective ever "
phenry is more than happy to turn attention to his daughter at any time of the day, instantly putting his coffee down on the table next to his coaster — can't risk ruining that finish !
renette is met with a lopsided smile that stretches across his face, crooked teeth pushing gums in his wide grin. he'd almost forgotten about father's day, if it hadn't been for the bag of gifts being currently held out to him. it wasn't his birthday, and it wasn't detective's day, so he deduced it must be father's day ! that, and the newspaper had made it a point of a headline.
before even opening the bag, he pulls her into a tight embrace, patting her back with his free hand. " thank you, gumdrop ! " after a solid few seconds, he pulls away to open the bag with excitement.
" GOOD HEAVENS !!! " smile grows brighter at every item he pulls out — the loving card, the bracelet, the packet, MISTER BIGFOOT HIMSELF !! what an honour ! the watch, and finally, the handmade award. the packet of candy is flicked open and small candy stick is put into his mouth as he leans forward, adjusting his glasses to read the engraving. the award is lovingly tucked safely in the crook of his arm as he takes up the autographed photo of bigfoot again, looking at it as if he couldn't believe his own two eyes.
" how on God's green earth did you get an autograph from bigfoot ? this is absolutely extraordinary ! " the photo is placed to the side as he slides both the bracelet and watch onto one wrist, pulling her once again in by the shoulders with his free hand, squeezing her to him tightly.
" thank you, renette, i must be the luckiest dad on this planet and any others ! " enthusiasm is tamed slightly, voice taking on a slightly softer tone. " i love you. "
