Heavy eyelids to match the heavy air they breathed every day and a dusty coolness to the air that prickled goosebumps up their arms. Every day Ari and Quinn walked a path steadily towards death and each sleep was just a vision, a premonition, of what awaited them at the end of the road.

And yet, they watched the stars. They traced the constellations of their own making with their eyes, whispered dreadful sweet secrets to one another under the snores of the Monkey King.

" What happens to the stars when they die? " It was too deep for a six year old. No child should ever ask that, Ari realized.

" Same as us. " Ari whispered

" They are forgotten? "

" Except loved ones. "

There was silence for a few seconds, stealthy and creeping in their hearts.

" Will you remember me? " Finally, Quinn spoke once more.
