I used to have bars of Theo dark chocolate lying around (I forget if they are organic or not, but they are fair trade - surprisingly there is a lot of chocolate child slavery in Africa... hershey's and nestle being one of the biggest offenders), the chocolate comes from the factor in Seattle (Washingtonian = me). I bought an ice cream maker to make my own coconut milk ice cream. Still kind of high in calories, but coconut is also extremely healthy for you! I love guilt-free sweets...
I get the 100-cal packs from Trader Joe's (TJ's brand). I don't think it's fair trade :(
I make a protein frozen yogurt sometimes in my ice cream yogurt for my post-workout snack! I use greek yogurt, chocolate protein powder, almond milk, and cocoa powder... Pretty healthy and oh-so-good. I love it when healthy things turn out to be taste oh-so-bad (in suuuch a good way!)
The nice thing is that.... IT'S REALLY EXPENSIVE compared to other sodas, so when you buy it it's definitely going to be in a small amount for satisfying cravings. My parents didn't catch on to it, so I continue to live my life soda-less (regular soda just makes me feel sick now - except pepsi.) It's my personal belief that it's okay to indulge in "bad foods" when they're upgraded to "sort of healthy." I replaced my sweet tooth craving with chocolate chip banana nut flax muffins w/ agave. Booya!
Oh for sure! I always crave ice cream at night so I've replaced that with dark chocolate. Still indulgent yet much healthier than ice cream :)
I'll definitely check out the sodas. Keeping just one or two on hand for a cravings emergency sounds like a great idea to me!
They actually have stevia-sweetened soda out there at places like Whole Foods for those of you who believe artificial sweeteners are Satan's gift to the world. I tried to get my family into it because I don't feel comfortable about things like aspartame and sucralose, and my dad is a diabetic - plus my brother drinks tons of soda like every day. It is probably the healthiest soda will ever get without being plain water. Zevia and Blue Sky are the most widespread stevia soda brands.
Wow, I'll definitely have to check this out! It could be dangerous though... I could definitely get addicted again. Plus the caffiene in the soda really affects me (that's why I get headaches and the shakes when I stop drinking it).
But I HAVE been looking for a good replacement to satisfy my soda craving. These would probably be good when I just really need a big icy glass of something yummy and carbonated haha.
