Headcanons!!!!

Shane eventually comes out to (Y/N) and they develop an older brother-little brother relationship full of teasing and playful jabs. Ilya becomes a parasite with Scott (literally canon LMAO. Ilya loves to bother Scott and insert himself in his life).

Courthouse wedding with parents and the trio (Greg, Carter, Eric + Laura) as witnesses. They throw a big party afterward to celebrate. Ilya and Shane get their respective invites.

Scott never fails to be in (Y/N)'s personal space, both in private and public. He faces a lot of affection teasing from everyone (especially Ilya, the hyprocite) because of it, but he doesn't care. (Y/N) remains his biggest bully.

(Y/N) continues coaching one of the junior hockey teams and eventually, he and Scott open their doors to billeting young players. This helps them build up experience taking care of teenagers.

Scott gets into LGBTQ+ activism. He buys and co-owns the Kingfisher gay bar with Kip, who becomes a bartender. Kip incorporates mocktails and fun non-alcoholic beverages to the menu with help from (Y/N), helping them resolve their tension and become casual friends.

Because of Scott's experience, they decide to foster kids and work on building close relationships with the biological families by helping them get the resources necessary to get custody of the kids again.

(They extend and provide support to Shane and Ilya when they eventually come out as a couple. They support Eric after his divorce. Kyle Swift probably ends up with Kip. Maybe they get into a poly relationship with Eric. Regardless, (Y/N) and Scott are supportive of everyone.)

(They get an invite to Shane and Ilya's wedding. (Y/N) is apart of Shane's groomsmen.)

Eventually, they adopt a pair of siblings: a toddler and a teenager, so they stop fostering to focus on them. They're both able to bond with the teenager due to personal experiences. Scott's a total get on the floor and mess around to make baby laugh dad.

With the blessing of their adoptive kids, they decide to go the surrogacy route and have a newborn a few years later. Scott decides to retire to be a more present father after the Admirals win a second cup, like Greg did.

Scott becomes a stay at home dad, but throws himself deeper into activism in his free time to stay busy. Similarly, (Y/N) decides to get into more activism that involves troubled teens and those suffering from mental illnesses.

(Their kids are trust fund babies with tons of fun uncles. Lucky them.)

(They remain in contact with previous fosters and their bio families, thus they get invited to A LOT of family events and are always getting holiday cards from different families. They always try to show up.)

They move to a suburban neighborhood in NYC (maybe in or around Westchester) and fully adapt that white picket fence life. With more space and a backyard, they get into fostering animals and donating to shelters. They definitely have at least three foster failures, two being named Sunshine and Snowflake.

Once their youngest enters their late teen years, Scott looks into getting in the Admirals staff team. He becomes assistant coach and then pretty quickly becomes head coach.

They live a pretty comfortable and relaxed life, eventually retiring to live out their senior years together. They get to see grandbabies and even great-grandbabies (plus grandbabies from previous foster kids). (Y/N) never loses his spark. Scott never stops doting on him.

I KNOW 😭😭 it's crazy but not surprising. There's a MILLION straight male characters you can write x female reader with. You want to write for Shane Hollander? Do it with a male reader or at the very least make it a gender neutral reader.

That man canonically does not find sex with women enjoyable. He canonically does not find eating coochie arousing. He's canonically bad at hetero sex because he prefers to bottom and he's a pillow princess. He literally says out loud he prefers to be the hole over the peg. That man is tired of doing the fucking.

He was bicurious, and then learned that he was gay. He only considered being bicurious because he has internalized homophobia.

This is nothing against other people who still love the show, I’m more so saying this just to try and bring a spotlight over how bad the fandom has gotten and from what it seems like.. how bad of people the actors actually are

I was also friends with a group of girls who loved heated rivalry and i was the only gay guy in this group, and they constantly used the f slur on me and sexualized me (among a lot of other ridiculous shit) so thats another reason why I’ve grown distant from the fandom

Again this is no hate to anyone!! I just wanted to maybe spark some discussion with you about it, and let you know that I’ve also stopped following what the actors have been doing for a while

The fandom needs to separate characters from actors, especially with Hudson Williams.

Hudson. Is. Not. Shane. Hollander. He is his own person with his own past and own beliefs. He doesn't need fans rallying behind him, babying him and acting like he must be a saint just because he's an ally and they find him attractive.

He (just like other celebrities) has a whole team that is actively working for him and his image. He has people who know him personally, family, friends, and a girlfriend.

At the end of the day, we as outsiders/fans/viewers do not know Hudson Williams or anyone from the HR cast personally. All we know are what they're willing to show us and what they approve others showing.

He is not our friend simply because of a few humorous press interviews or because of how he behaves on camera. It's easy to say one thing and be/do another.

- the readers of romance fiction are predominately (82% ish?) women, so Rachel Reid did write the books for an audience of women. The actors and showrunner have often emphasised this point in several interviews, saying that the book and the show are an expression of female desire. They do not have a problem with that; in fact, catering to that desire is why the show was made. Jacob Tierney (the creator) has spoken really interestingly and warmly about this, if you look it up. Hopefully his perspective might help you feel a little more generous towards (straight or queer) women who fantasise about gay men - I mean, you also seem to write in this genre, and identified yourself as a queer woman if I read your paragraph right? Is your writing not a product of sexual and romantic desire? You are imagining people and scenarios - this is the definition of a fantasy. Which I think is great! And apologies if I read your paragraph wrong concerning your identity. 

- Secondly, several people have taken a census of ao3 users, which seems to be a good place to get a feel for the sexuality makeup of fandom, and the percentage of people identifying as straight seems to be between 30-50%. Really, the people around you in fandom are so much more likely to be queer than you think; to be part of your community. It's maybe not so useful to label people doing things you don't like as straight-white-cis when you don't have evidence to support it, because you're cutting yourself off from seeing them as community, or solving problems together. 

I do feel sad that some people have felt they had to stop writing and being creative bc of pressure you have exerted. That is a really heavy, weighty thing, and I hope you can take some time to roll that idea around. I won't reply again, I hope you go well, and maybe a bit gentler, with yourself and others. 

I am asexual so sex does not appeal to me in that way 💀 I laugh at myself some times because I write sex scenes with such a straight face. It's the same as writing violence or anything other sort of thing. I envision it so I can describe it exactly how I see it in my head but it doesn't give me any sexual gratification. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've also never considered myself as the (Y/N) or 'you' in x reader things. They've always been characters to me, and that applies to my own works.

Those who've been with me at least since When Fire Meets Fate know that I call the (Y/N) of that series Aren. I give each of my (Y/N)s names and go back to replace it with (Y/N). I've never thought of them as 'me' or other people's (Y/N)s as me, so no romantic gratification there, either.

Using white, straight, and cis are identifiable terms. A straight white woman is not going to have the same experience as a gay latin man in fandoms, let alone in real life. That's why I use those terms. And there's a reason I use some and most because I know it's not all straight women.

We need allies, but not allies who are only allies so their needs (sexual or whatever) are met. Choosing not to listen to what a community is telling you is the opposite of allyship and makes your 'activism' performative.

And I can't solve problems with people who think there are no problems, or that the problem came out of thin air when this problem has been around for far longer than many people think.

Tumblr isn't AO3. Two completely different sights that work differently and have fandoms who may be super popular on AO3 but mostly dead here. Not comparable.

I haven't pressured anyone. Today is my first time making a post and yesterday (or ig in the early hours of this morning) was the first time I ever replied to someone about this topic because they made a comment on a post where I answered an ask. I have remained silent for WEEKS, simply agreeing with people sending me asks talking about it.

The people who chose to stop or delete their series did not do it because of me because they don't even know I exist. I noticed their works, thought 'hm. weird', went on with my day, and then one day when I went on the tag, I noticed the works were gone or left unfinished.

I don't have the power to run anyone off a site. And have you seen me mention or tag anyone specifically in answered ask or the og post? No. Because I'm not going to put some random stranger on the internet on blast.

'Pressure I have exerted'. Please. Check your sources before you make an accusation about me cause I've got social anxiety and I don't like interacting with people unless they interact with me first. Hence, why I made a post.

I made this blog sometime in mid to late 2019. Why? I had been wanting to make a writing side blog for quite a while now. While scrolling through the marvel x reader tag, debating what I should do, I noticed a post. A post made by a queer man talking about how much he wished x male readers were written more about. I thought to myself, "Well.. how hard could it be? Might as well be the change people want."

Here we are, basically seven years later, with the same. damn. problem.

And yeah, I can't speak for all queer men or masc presenting folks who like dudes, but I've been mistaken for a queer dude for, well, seven damn years. And I've been on the receiving end of slurs, complaints, attacks. So, I have some idea what queer men in fandoms deal with.

There's a reason I'm a little protective of them, because many of them have been my supporters for those seven years.

And assuming this is the same anon who said they didn't even read x reader much and happened to see the post, go ahead onto the heated rivalry x reader tag and count how many hollanov/Shane x fem readers there are and compare to how many x male readers there are in total including Ilya and Scott.

Since you've said this is your last response, I assume I won't hear from you again. But, safe to say you'll likely check in at some point to see if I've responded.
