It was your any other day and Violet hated it. She hated the constant cliques at school, or the need to get involved in her family life right after school, or how she had to finish her homework before being able to go out. “Screw this.” she told herself as she shut her textbook and placed it to the side. The one thing that usually helped her feel better was smoking. Or Tate. Since her mother was in the kitchen and her dad tending to work stuff, it wasn’t all that hard to sneak out of her house, or perhaps they just didn’t care if she did.
She approached the Langdon’s front porch and rang the doorbell, normally she’d have waited for Tate to sneak out as well, but today Violet felt angsty and she needed to get it off her chest. What better way than to unleashing it all out with Tate. It was stupid, and a part of her always feared that it may chase him away, but if that were the case, he would have blown her off years ago. She constantly had to remind herself of that.
As soon as she heard the front door open, Violet stepped back and before he could greet she spit out the first thing that came to mind. “What would you do if I suddenly disappeared or died tomorrow? I mean, how long would it even take you to notice that I was missing?” she asked. Clearly the day’s troubles were catching on to her;
