       Gaze ultimately shifted over to view the girl beside him. Was this how Marlon felt when he found Clementine and AJ in that car wreck? Nah, they were unconscious when he first found them upside down in the wreckage, so they didn’t have a chance to act up or make noise or, god forbid, be scared of a simple walk back toward the school grounds!

       Arms crossed over his chest, he peered over toward the woods where the moans in the distance were easily echoing through the brush. Walkers… Everyone feared them but they were easy to mess up. One punch to the face could send them careening down to the ground, giving the person enough time to flee and make it to safety – all it took was a few brain cells to not fuck it up. ❝ So long as ya stay quiet, they ain’t gonna notice ya. ❞

 ❝Yes, I mind.  If I get caught up in that, swear to God, I’m taking you with me.❞ Big talk for a girl empty-handed. Patty hugs herself uncomfortably. Squeezes her bones tight, with no less than a pace between them. All words escape her for how weak she’d felt. How utterly terrified she’d been when Mitch found her. 

Nevermind a survivalist but always a fighter, kicking and struggling at first, her clamoring squeals drew unwanted attention --and she can recall the bitter, metal taste of his palm pressed against her mouth, its smoky scent, and the overwhelming urge to BITE down on it. Patty knew now, she could probably act a bit more grateful towards him ..But why? noone asked him to save me.

Despite a few scuffs and scars, his skin was tanned and clear. His hair looked sleek, maybe greasy to her. Beneath a grimy layer of dirt, blood and tears, Patty’s skin flared up hot wondering how awful she must smell.
