Compost toilets are perhaps not the most glamorous subject to talk about, but they're no less important.
We've designed and have been building a dry compost toilet in Godavari. This design aims to improve the traditionally used pit latrines in Nepali villages which tend to be quiet unhygienic and need to be moved from one place to another after some time.
In this design, the solid and liquid waste are collected separately and are emptied out after the waste is ready to be used as compost in the fields. This design uses the South facing orientation to help dry and decompose the solid waste. It also minimizes the amount of water used when compared to the commonly used modern toilets.
