The Pendleton House presents A Beginning at Velocity Dance Center on August 30th at 6:30pm and 9:30pm. A Beginning, the product of collaboration between 25 multimedia artists, is a live sensory experience which utilizes the stage and unconventional performance spaces in Velocity. Audience members will be immersed in a unique journey guided by the performers, through three rooms.

  Artists from The Pendleton House, including choreographers, composers, sculptors, designers and filmmakers, have structured the experience by exploring ways in which to contrast the human condition with varied elements of light through movement, sculpture, film and sound. What does light hide? What stifles our internal light? What fuels it? How much do we, as humans, depend on light for growth and survival?

  The core founders of The Pendleton House are comprised mostly of Cornish College of the Arts alumni as well as artists from across the country. The House continuously strives toward building a collaborative and immersive home in which the artists are free to develop their careers individually, with the ability to return to the solid foundation which this collective provides. The 25 artists currently housed are born of a generation which is faced with the reality of globalization and the challenge of reacting artistically, reinforcing the House’s belief that we are more powerful working as a single entity rather than as individuals.
