#building stuff

I’m working on building a fireplace/curio cabinet thing for my entryway in my 120 year old house. It’s loosely based on the black and white photo here, only I want something scaled to my house, and more asymmetrical, more Addams Family. It’s my sanity project because it’s distracting me from Trump Stupidity for a few hours a day, and it’ll be a sort of personal memorial to self care, in time.

It’s still in early stages; I cobbled together a crude rendering of the top and bottom halves thus far.

I have been collecting all the elements for this for decades; antique spindles and railings, finials and random millwork, some old wallpaper. It’s very gratifying to see them finally put to use, rather than jumbled in boxes. I keep altering the design as I go, incorporating more elements, changing my mind as it develops. There’s a tall, narrow wall opposite my front door, adjacent to the staircase, where it will fit perfectly, and to the left are some full-sized matching columns that are original to the house, framing the entry to the parlor.

Many more hours of building ahead, then finishing and installing. There is a small electric fireplace that will go in the opening. I have a few more throughout the house; they’re nice for the flickering light without polluting the air. More photos to come, to show progress.

Had to put together a modern art wing in my museum. It's brand new, like Sebastian said, because I just added it for their story, lol!

Plus a shot of the fossils room. Because I like it. I don't think Colette will be very impressed, but I would find this room very quiet and calming. 🦖

And this reminds me that I need to have more sims complete the collections so I can add more rooms to my museum. Like, seriously, I've been playing this game for ten years and I should have this whole museum filled up with collections by now!

When Milo finishes his bug collection, sometime when he's a whole grown man (at my pace) and a world famous entomologist, he can donate the bugs to the museum and have an exhibit commissioned in his name.

I mean, that's how the gameplay of this museum was supposed to work, when I was still trying to be a rotational gameplay simmer, before I got sidetracked with all these stories! 🙃

A WIP of a 6-stall barn on a horse farm. Everything's pretty much a placeholder until I decide how I want things to look. (Never mind the weird low fences all over the place; that's how I plan where I'm putting what.) I built something, then tore it down and built something else, then tore that down and tried something else, then tore that down, etc., and I didn't like anything. Finally I decided to turn the stalls around to face outside instead of facing the center aisle of the barn. I don't really like that, either, but at least the horses will be able to go in and out by themselves. It's not like I need the thing to be realistic. I just need it functional.

Move on to some smallish island world.  Isolation Island, maybe?

I haven’t really had the concentration to paint lately, but I’ve been working on some more terrain

I built myself a little custom refuel and repair station (made the two pieces detachable for easier painting, or to maybe only play with half of it if needed) and additionally made a lil greenstuff fuel hose today

I am redoing my Britechester and I feel like it needs a “place” for college kids to unwind but not necessarily in a bar. Was thinking of turning the library lot into a small shopping “square” with pizza, arcade, some sort of shop, and maybe karaoke. I found a couple but they are way too modern or flashy!
