Thank you! I've done this quite a few time in other builds too, I like the look of it and it's easy to do.

I put down the columns first, then fill in flooring on the roof level (as if it were going to be a covered porch). Depending how big the porch area is you may need to throw in a few extra columns so you can put flooring down, but you can delete the columns you don’t need at the end.

Then I use the lowest white fence in this set (it's more like a floor edge than anything) to create the beams. Then I delete the roof-level flooring and any extra columns! Easy peasy :)
