I think it was dealt with perfectly (or so i saw in the anime). It's not obviously stated but his ptsd is very prevalent and lins's post about his possible ocd of washing his hands is a very interesting and amazing and observant point. (lins if ur reading this i tried to contact you via skype like 2 million times if i could link to that post or not so send me an ask if you want it removed!!)
also i'm not sure if it's my place to say this and/or if i'm being ignorant by saying this but!! i thought it was really interesting that they showed rin so many times. i'm not sure if it's just an artistic choice or because the animator's really wanted the viewers to remember or! or maybe it was because supposed to be shown so many times because it's supposed to be annoying. it's supposed to creep up on you and it's supposed to be like a fly you can't swat and that's shown to get the viewers to sympathize with the part of kakashi that is irritated that he can't let go of this. he knows it was his fault and he's accepted it. he tries to wash the memory from his hands off and he wants this to all be over. again, i am sorry if my assumption is offensive in any way (and please call me out if it is!)
