I just wrote that last post about working my whole gif-making process out, but... maybe not. Here’s the video straight from Toolbag.Â
In actual game development news, I think I finally have enough trees and variations for now! Planning to try the terrain tree painting tool in Unity to see what that’s like.
Pine tree experiments, because I still can’t get myself to sketch in a useful way.
The first one is my original, unwrapped and textured tree. But I’m (almost definitely) switching everything in BC to vertex painted, so trees 2-6 are just that.
Tree 2: vanilla Tree 3: idk why I thought vertical stripes were a good idea Tree 4: ohh horizontal strips are worse because this looks like sludge Tree 5: not bad? But dangerously like a cartoon poop Tree 6: finally looked at reference. The result isn’t terribly piney but I like it.
Chicken & variations:
1. Standard chicken 2. The chicken who’s too tired to put up with you 3. Innocent chicken who does not yet know the ways of the world 4. Red alert chicken
Tree blockouts. My favorites are 1 and 6, though that willow is growing on me!

As my random Buffet Cats assets start to pile up, I will start releasing them as (small but) free sets for download! All of it will be under the MIT license.Â
So far I just submitted to the Unity asset store, and I’m thinking maybe Blendswap and Github... not sure where else, but once I figure that out I will update!
It’s a baby environment :3 Still lots to do, but it’s feeling right so far.Â
Now that I’m seeing things in context, I’m not sure if the cats really need weapons. The original pounce-and-chomp attack seems to make a lot of sense already!
