in keeping with the theme: food
There was a time when members of my family used to accuse me of being a fussy eater. Never having been a fussy eater I was hurt, so I put together a list proving I actually like more things than I dislike. I ranked the items in three catagories:
Like (*Like*)
Will eat to be polite but would rather not (*RatherNot*)
Not if I can help it (*No*)
I also included an explanation for most of the items. So far the list only includes vegetables.
Artichoke *No* You have to cook it for how long? And then you scrape off some editable goo from each leaf before getting to the choke? And the choke is protected by spines? Obviously this plant was designed not to be eaten by humans.
Asparagus *RatherNot* Makes your pee smell - yuch!
Avocados *No* When the aliens return they are not going to be happy to find you have been eating their eggs.
Beans
Green *Like* Wonderful
Lima *Rather Not* Usually too dry and mealy.
Wax *Rather Not* see Lima
Black/White/Kidney *Like* They’re OK
Beets *Like* Young & fresh, yum!
Broccoli *Like* Basic green vegetable!
Cabbage *Like* Basic food, raw or cooked (as in Corned Beef & Cabbage).
Cauliflower *Like*
Celery *RatherNot* Stringy, why bother.
Chard *Like* Well washed please.
Corn *Like* With butter & salt! Makes summer worth the trouble.
Cucumber *Like* Wonderful. Crisp & crunchy.
Eggplant *No* My mother used to make me eat it.
Kale *Like* Substitute when chard is not available but can be bitter.
Leek *RatherNot* Why bother when onions are available.
Lentils *Like* Basic.
Mushrooms *RatherNot* Not a vegetable. They are just waiting to kill you.
Nuts (almond, peanut, walnut and the like) *RatherNot* See mushroom
Olive *No* See mushroom
Onion *Like* Basic staple of life.
Parsnip *Like* Fine in soup.
Parsley *Like* Nice garnish.
Pea *Like* Nothing better than fresh baby peas!
Peppers *Like* Most are very good but not too interested in the hot ones.
Potatoes *Like* Basic starch - Yukon Gold!
Radish *Like* OK garnish.
Rhubarb *Like* Pie!
Spinach *Like* Cooked or raw - wonderful.
Squash
Yellow Crooked-Neck *Like* Wonderful!
Zuke *RatherNot* Why bother.
Butternut and the like*RatherNot* OK I guess, but I'd rather not
Soybean *No* Meant for animal feed, not humans.
Turnip *Like* Mashed
Tomatoes *Like* See Corn.
Yam *Like* Or Sweet Potatoes, nice.
Comments are welcome!
And please, feel free to add to the list.
More than 100 professional ungulates overran an Idaho neighborhood Friday, briefly tasting freedom — and a whole lot of manicured lawns while they were at it.
Hardworking professional ungulates. 😂🤣😂
Just another reason to visit Boise on our tour. Besides Boise being on the way to http://www.lardogrillandsaloon.com that is 😁
The Twilight Zone - To Serve Man full episode ( 1962 )
Keeping with the theme of food
Goes along with my idea that we should not be eating avocados, because they are the eggs of aliens.
More food suggestions
Thanks Marie!
For anyone who doesn’t remember, it is my contention that avocados are actually alien eggs, and when the aliens return, they will be very upset to find out you (not me) have been eating their children ;)

The Montreal-style bagel or Montreal bagel (sometimes beigel; Yiddish: בײגל beygl; Chinese:贝果, Bèi guǒ, French: Bagel de Montréal), is a distinctive variety of handmade and wood-fired baked bagel. In contrast to the New York-style bagel,[1] or the East Coast Style Bagel which also contains sourdough, the Montreal bagel is smaller, thinner, sweeter and denser, with a larger hole, and is always baked in a wood-fired oven.[2] It contains malt, egg, and no salt, and is boiled in honey-sweetened water before being baked.
Thanks Sharon @sharonbphotos I had no idea. Baked in a wood-fired oven? I take back everything I said about other bagels. I HAVE to try these!
Thanks @redheadinmanhattan! Looking forward to your suggestions.
