blog name origin: basically two of my old favorite nicknames smushed together. my dad used to call me Buddy when I was a kid, and I had an ex that called me Dolly, which I considered using as my chosen name for a while. landed on Janis though! I'm keeping buddydolly for sims-related stuff because sims are kind of like buddies... and also dollies...
go-to order(s): Sweet and Sour Chicken at Chinese restaurants, it varies pretty widely everywhere else. I never get tired of Chinese food though. I could eat Chinese any day of the week. chumcha!!

something I did as a kid that I do now: disappear into imaginary worlds in my head and write stories, and use those characters to work through my own bullshit as well. not a bad coping mechanism if you ask me!

early bird, or night owl?: night owl usually, but I've been rolling into bed pretty early. feels fucking crazy to pop open my laptop and play TS2 at fucking 10AM, but that's what I've been up to.
what is your profession and do you like it?: I'm looking for another job right now actually! I'm not really sure what I want to do to earn money in my dumb little life. currently just vibing and trying to have a good time, taking care of my mom on the side. I might fuck around and get a psych degree and go into counseling. I think I'd be good at it and could really help people, because I've been through some shit myself, and I'm not looking at it from a perspective of "Let's get you on meds so you can get back to work!" Nope. "What can we do to alleviate your mental/emotional discomfort and make your day-to-day life easier?" would be my question. Whether or not someone works doesn't determine their worth in this world, and I think everyone deserves to live comfortably and happily. 🫶

had the realization the other day that maybe the reason why I've felt like shit for so much of my life is because my dad equated me being excited and enthusiastic about my hobbies as progression toward some achievement, like what's happening is just not translating between the two of us. so, obviously when I'm hype about just having built a really cool lot in the sims (he used to be a carpenter) and I show him, he just mean mugs me like "that's cool I guess, you should do AutoCAD and be an architect. Why aren't you using your writing degree?" bitch I'm having fun!! I AM writing stories! I'm making worlds! not everything I show you is an Achievement™, sometimes I'm just excited that my mentally ill ass managed to actually visualize and bring to life a building I've only ever seen in my fucking head. do you not understand how fucking cool that is that we can just do that? for fun. on a Wednesday afternoon. have some whimsy you alcoholic fuck, not everything is a fucking capitalist grind.

Hi! I made some carpet recolors.
as it says on the tin, you get 52 recolors of the maxis "hotel" carpet. I say that in quotes because it doesn't call it that in-game, but it does in most of the internals when you're ripping textures to edit, SO: carpets that use this texture include the "Crimsonia" Carpet, "Fool's Gold" Carpet, "Piña Colada" Carpet, OverWear Carpet in "Chinchilla," "Grassy Knoll" Carpet, Yodel Lei Carpet in "Lichen," "Minty Fresh" Carpet, Royal Blue Carpet, and the "Tropical Paradise" Carpet.
you may be wondering where the name for this collection comes from... well, on the 3rd, I found out I had strep throat after two days of my right tonsil being swollen like a balloon, intense brainfog, and my whole body aching. it seems like I get a little bit delirious every time I get sick anymore, so in my delirium I did the only thing I knew could do with 2 functioning braincells: I recolored a carpet I've been meaning to for a while. I use the aforementioned Maxis carpets with this texture the most (it's my favorite♥), but there's no purple! (WTF, Maxis!?) so, I made sure to include a few. REMINDER:
