He is incredibly ashamed of how cold and cruel he can be, and with good reason. When he’s angry his voice levels out, his face smooths over, and he will say some truly vile things with the same tone one might use to talk about the weather. And when he’s like that he always feels like he’s just sort of watching it happen; he feels like he’s stuck in a body he isn’t really calling the shots in and just has to listen to himself be awful to people he loves. He knows he gets this from his father and he loathes it. When the moment’s passed he always feels terrible for it but his pride often gets in the way of a proper apology.

5. a trait they’re not ashamed of (but maybe should be)

Probably his vanity around his looks, not because it gets in the way of anything in his life or makes him feel superior to other people, just because of how much it embarrasses me.

Her accent. She hates it, hates that it gives away how poor she grew up, and how it comes out when she’s thrown off her game which is when she feels she needs to hide it the most. She’s spent years practicing how to hide it but it still slips through sometimes.
