I really like the episode Selfless (because Anya). And I do really like Buffy's speech in it. But there is one line that irks me to no end.
Xander is saying that Buffy's playing favorites (not killing spike while planning to kill Anya). Buffy argues that Spike is/was harmless while Anya is actively killing people. Then she points out: "I killed Angel. Do you even remember that?" When he went evil, she killed the man she loved. And that was poignant. I loved that line! She did! She loved him and she killed him because she had to!
What I reallly don't like is the line following it:
"I loved him more than I will ever love anything in this life."
Like what?? What???? Excuse me, what about Dawn? Your sister? The person you literally died for? The girl who is like a daughter to you? Really? I am so glad Dawn didn't have to hear that
