LMAO I missed this the first time
Is that smile bc this is when he decides to do the little dragon egg box lol
Another thing about Tallu’s internal monologue I love is the way he always refers to Airón as his Northern hunter.
We know that Airón thinks of himself as an assassin; he sees himself as the assassin that Yorîmu and his mother raised and even the name of the series is the Emperor’s Assassin because thats how Airón sees himself.
But we also know that identity comes with a lot of shame for him in his self image among other men in the North. He remarks that his father seemed horrified at seeing the results of his assassinations on the pirate ship and that Rimáu generally seemed ashamed* of him due to the lack of “honor” in assassinating someone as opposed to a traditional hunt.
So the fact that Tallu thinks of him as a hunter, a role that does hold honor in the North Kindgom as opposed to an assassin. Well, it’s very in character and describes so much about their dynamic.
(*I won’t get into the potential unreliability of Airón as a narrator when describing the way his family and people saw him, we have enough hints to support the possibility of this being an unreliable narration wrt that but that’s a post for another time)
