Belgian GP FP1 Highlights
McLaren had an eventful start to the session, with Lando Norris spending the opening minutes in the garage while engineers investigated a possible issue before he finally joined the action.
Jake Crawford returned for another FP1 rookie appearance, while Carlos Sainz also had a delayed start. Both Williams cars initially remained in the garage before Alex Albon headed out.
Red Bull looked quick from the outset, with Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar exchanging fastest laps in the opening stages before Verstappen established himself at the top.
Racing Bulls impressed early, with Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar running inside the top seven during the first ten minutes, showing encouraging pace.
George Russell reported a lack of grip over team radio, complaining of tyre issues and excessive sliding throughout his run.
Oscar Piastri endured a difficult start to the session before recovering into the top five, although his running was later interrupted by a reported hydraulic pressure issue.
Carlos Sainz had multiple laps deleted for exceeding track limits and was placed under post-session investigation for an unsafe pit lane entry.
Alex Albon recovered well from an early lock-up, climbing from the lower end of the order into the midfield.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc both showed strong late-session pace, briefly moving into second and third respectively as the times continued to tumble.
Kimi Antonelli briefly topped the timing sheets before the final qualifying-style runs reshuffled the order.
Oliver Bearman improved to P13, while Alpine struggled throughout the session, failing to show competitive pace.
Norris' first representative flying lap came relatively late in the session, eventually lifting him into the top ten.
