Due to popular demand, here is the tutorial for the "Green Tea Party" Wings that I put together for the HGTV website to correspond with my demo segments. Enjoy, and keep in mind that these steps are very simple and can be done by absolutely anyone and with infinite variety - it's all in the decoration that makes these so magical!!!
Cutting a four-foot length of wire, take one end and begin bending it into your upper wing shape, leaving three inches of the wire free at the beginning and the end of the shape.
Wrap the three inch pieces at the beginning and end of your wing shape with electrical tape to close the shape off.
Repeat steps one and two for opposite upper wing shape and both lower wing shapes, making the lower shapes slightly smaller.
Using one stocking for each wing shape, slide the stocking over the wire frame and wrap extra fabric around the wing base, taping the ends in place.
After all four wing frames are covered with stockings, go back over each wing and, with a needle and thread in a corresponding color, hand-stitch the nylon to the wire in any place where the natural stretchiness of the nylon causes it to pull away. This will insure that your fabric follows the design of your wire frame exactly.
Draw a design on each wing with invisible fabric pen.
Light an incense stick, and use the tip to singe small holes in the stockings wherever you’d like for a decorative, moth-eaten look.
Begin painting in your penned design with acrylic paints.
While paint is still wet, cover desired areas with glitter and shake excess off on a piece of newspaper.
Using tweezers to pick up crystals, use a dot of fabric glue to adhere each crystal to your wings for extra sparkle.
Wrap electrical tape around the four-inch wing centers to connect the upper and lower wings together, creating a four-wing wire frame. You can now curve the wings into a more natural shape if desired.
Wrap a wide ribbon around the base to cover it neatly, securing ends with hot glue.
Cut four lengths of ribbon about two feet each and sew two ribbons to the top insides of the upper wings, then sew the other two ribbons to the bottoms of the lower wings, leaving the ribbons hanging loosely.
Hot-glue an assortment of artificial flowers and foliage to your wing base.
Using beading needle and beading thread, string several inches of beads and stitch to bottoms of lower wings, creating a draped strand of beads. Repeat for two strands of beads if desired.
Hot-glue decorative butterflies to the wing base for the final touch.
Using the ribbon ties, tie wings onto your back wrapping the ribbons around your shoulders and tying in a bow at the front.

Well, I’ve had to take a couple of days away from the grueling “Opheliac” to record the audio and finalize artwork for the re-release of poetry book, formerly called “Across The Sky” before it sold out, now called “Your Sugar Sits Untouched” and which will be a big lovely book with a CD included and also oh so very limited edition signed, blah blah, can you say run on sentance?
I am very much enjoying recording the audio version at the Asylum, complete with orchestration…it’s preposterous in a way, but something I’ve always wanted to do, the closest I get (for now!) to reciting Shakespeare on BBC Radio…so hurrah for self-indulgence, and into the iPods of all! Let’s listen to poetry on the train… Here’s the cover…dreamy…marshmallow goth…
Here’s a few other shots from that same series:
Here’s my favorite bloomers, the same used in those shots…dear god I love these bloomers:
And of course here’s something to prove we’re still working…sort of…
Tonight sees another clandestine meeting with Cornelia Teapot and the mixing of “The Art of Suicide” at Mad Villain…

LadyParasyte, fLee, Crystal, and I went out Friday night seeking adventure. It wasn't hard to find. Apparently, four ladies in a car are what's commonly known as "trucker bait," and we were to find this out in a most harsh demonstration.
(Crystal & LadyParasyte in the front.)
(Me & fLee in the back.)
While driving to the club district, we attracted the attention of a passing van decked out in garish Chicago Bears regalia. The van seems packed to illegal proportions with young men, and the driver of this van was intent on getting our attention. LadyP and Crystal happened to have a dry-erase board in their glove compartment for such sensible purposes as inquiring what van drivers are looking at, and LadyP pulled out the board on this occasion. Starting out in a mild manner, LadyP simply wrote, "Hi!," and put the board to the window. The rather rotund and far from hairless van driver responded by pulling up his shirt and baring his breasts in what we could only guess was some sort of Chicago Bears mating ritual. Shocked, LadyP wrote, "Ewww!" and held it to the window.
The driver, now accompanied by some of his passengers who were clamoring to the front of the van, responded by making obscene gestures involving both his hand and his mouth, and we were pretty well honestly and truly disgusted by this point. Traffic changed and we found ourselves on the other side of the van. Noticing much movement in the van, we glanced over to find that yet another rather rotund and far from hairless man had shoved his gigantic and far from hairless arse out the passenger's window. Nothing much more can be said upon this subject because we were nauseated and horrified and I could write nothing but "ILL" on the board which fLee kindly held up to her window to show them how we felt about their sub-human display.
(Poor fLee being ill at the sight of the van driver's bum. On the bright side, she is wearing the most rad Co-Dependent Time Teller choker from WTH.)
After this incident, we found ourselves once again the target of the driver of a much larger truck and while we could never fully make out what he was trying to tell us, I'm sure it was something revolting.
On the pleasant side, we listened to some new music from Kittie and some other rockish outfits, and discovered while singing along that LadyP can scream like a fucking demon from hell. I'm not talking about some high-pitched piercing banshee shyte, I'm talking growl from the bowels of the earth. To travel back in time a moment: when the ladies had come to pick me up at my house that evening, the house was rather noisy due to all the people there for the party-for-no-particular-occasion that was already going on. Therefor, it was not at all surprising when I kept mishearing what LadyP was saying and reinterpreting her words in my own way. It was surprising that I sincerely thought she was saying much more ribald things than she actually was, because it is not my usual character to jump to such conclusions. However, this is how the evening began, and one of the things I thought she said was "cervix" when what she actually said was "SirMiss," though that is no less strange and I can't explain it without going into a whole other tale. Back to the present: When I heard LadyP scream so masterfully, I thought how perfect it would be to form a band of the four of us wherein LadyP would scream and the rest of us would contribute something equally entertaining, and what more perfect name for us than, "Cervix," that having been brought up fatefully an hour prior. Things only got better when it was jointly decided that the proper spelling really ought to be "ServX."
(We are quite delighted with our new idea!)
We quickly decided upon the instrumentation: LadyP would scream and play the bass half-assed, fLee would sing and dance, I would play a drum strapped around my neck (because it's the only thing I don't do), and Crystal would play the flute and wear a voluminous skirt from the 50s. This was certainly the high point of our night.
We arrived near our destination, the club Berlin, and walked a couple of blocks to the club. On our way, we took some photographs:
(Crystal, LadyP, and fLee choose cakes.)
(I'm trying to get free money out of the ATM, because I know that someday
it will really work.)
(I recommend you all call this fine establishment and ask that they sponsor
"ServX" on European tour.)
(This is your own fLee and LadyP; bet you didnt know how fine they were,
or perhaps you did.)
(Do you think we were accosted by these guys? Fucking duh!)
(Self explanatory. I am taking the shot, so not in the picture.)
(How three ladies can make the same gesture convey completely disparate emotions.)
On our way to Berlin, we thought it might be nice to drop by the Bottom Lounge where LadyP's BF was working, just to say hello and generally make his life more difficult. We were received warmly, especially LadyP.
(LadyP & her BF Joel.)
We sat at the bar for a quick drink before heading onwards, and I was instantly and somewhat awkwardly singled out by a strange gentleman who was attracted to my shirt (the very same I made in the trailer before the show at the Atlanta festival with The Chelsea). He claimed to find the humor impeccable and sat down next to me for a chat. He claimed to be good at very many things, from recording albums in his home to vegan cookery. I began to think that, had I said I only ate wood shavings and polymer casserole, he would have coincidentally been expert at making that as well. The only thing I had concrete evidence he was splendid at was taking my attention away from my friends, which I quite resented. After explaining that we were ServX from Delaware and were busy recording our first single into my cell phone due to it's wonderful sound quality, I was finally free to be with more pleasant company, as evidenced in the following photograph:
(ServX Forever!!!)
I thought it was time to move on to our final destination before we were distracted by any more unwanted guests. So we took our leave and headed two doors down through increasing rain to Berlin. Any one from Chicago knows that Berlin is my kind of place, and if you've ever been there, you know why. We got through the door quickly to the sounds of a Postal Service club mix, which really was a good sign. Nothing beats walking into a room and being instantly run up to and told you're "fabulous," by a couple of gay men. I'm mean really, nothing beats that. You get the warm fluffies without the grimey get-away-from-me's if you know what I mean. Goddess bless gay men, and triple bless gay bars!!! What would women do without either? During our stay there, I was approached by a couple of people who *shock* knew who I was. Now that is always a surprise. The gentleman in charge of booking acts knew who I was too ("we've been listening to your album here forever!") and asked if I'd like to perform there, to which I answered in the affirmative. I will almost always be delighted to play at any venue that asks me, rather than having to ask. It's just such a delightful situation to be in. Admittedly pleased by the recognition, I felt it was time for us four to take over one of the dance pedestals and show the crowd what ServX was all about. However, not all of us were in the dancing mood, so we entertained ourselves by standing in line for the "ladies" room and looking at posters for the upcoming Madonna night.
(Crystal pulls a Madonna lip to striking resemblance.)
We suddenly noticed it was far too loud to talk to eachother, something girls are exceedingly good at, so we all went next door for some 4am tea and cake, which really turned into nachos, banana cake, and coffee. Crystal practically got into a fight ServX style when the gentleman in the booth behind her kept banging on the bench back. Needless to say, she banged back, and quite aggressively too. The guy and his stupid friends were hostile, but only to a harmless degree, and a few overloud chants of "ServX," enough to get us kicked out at any other hour of the day, were all we needed to gain our confidence back. Crystal also inquired what kind of butter the establishment had, which I thought marked her out as a very particular sort of lady.
After parting ways, I hopped through the now pouring rain into a cab and on the way home learned that my driver was French-Morrocan. He was obviously educated, and we struck up a conversation when he asked why the people that dress all in black do so and whether they are in fact Satanists, clearly referring to Goths. I answered that it was mainly a fashion based around an aesthetic, a way of life, a style of music, and that it had nothing to do with Satan. The driver then asked about the people with many peircings who wore chains. I identified these as punks and answered that they were similar to goths in that they desired to rebel from the mainstream and show their individuality while establishing an identifying style that aids them in finding and being found by those of a like-mind. The driver seemed to follow, but also thought that there was a sort of wickedness in this need to show individualism by defacing one's body with piercing and tattoos when there were so many ways to be individual on the inside. I brought up tribes in Africa who do the same thing, but he felt that this was not a fair comparison because of the differences in society. Hmmm. I personally feel that the decoration of the human body with somewhat permanent marking has been around for thousands of years, and I don't really see that our subconscious motives are very different now than they ever were; they are still essentially tribal. Interesting though to see for one moment the perspective of a person raised in a massively different society, and how they look upon our street fashion and culture in general.
I arrived back home to a very excited puppy and a house still full of people though it was almost dawn, and proceeded to stay up until 7am at which time my adventure was pleasantly ended as Willow and I went off to bed.

It is just after 7 am, and I'm waking up after having fallen asleep only two hours ago, and I felt compelled to write thoughts down, because this is when all the good stuff happens...
My keyboard's not lit up, and it's dark in here, so there are lots of typos I will have corrected by the time you see this...
My life is a whirlwind of action and emotion these days. So many things undone that were to be done, things put on hold, things going forward that were never even to be...and guess what I've done right at the height of it all? That's right, I've dropped the Zoloft. Not the medically, intellectually smart thing to do, I completely realize, but I had to listen to that feeling deep n my gut that says "do something," so I did, and I've been off it for about two weeks now. Every day is a range of emotional and physical tests for me, the dizziness, the lack of focus, the mental confusion, the general anti-depressant withdrawal, and I'm dealing with it without complaint, and have not gone into the state of extreme darkness that would normally have accompanied such a withdrawal/descent back into unmedicated depression.
I am committed wholeheartedly to my health, I'm not abandoning myself...I will utilize herbalists, therapists, anything it takes to get to a state of happiness or at least manageable unhappiness through more natural means, and if that doesn't work, then I'll go back to plan A but at least I will have tried. I always appreciate advice and tales of successful release from medication, so feel free to share what has worked for those of you who have been in this spot before.
In the meantime, Opheliac is temporarily on hold as I am moving residences and am currently staying with friends - lovely times, but not the studio I was used to working in, so I'm a bit displaced. Things will get back on track and be better than ever, I just need to regroup, it'll just take a moment. The heightened emotion these days brings endless fodder for writing and thus new songs, but the last thing Opheliac needs is more songs...
Then there is work on the upcoming albums of friends, something I'm spending more time on than my own, but that's because they have major label deadlines and I don't;) C'est la vie... But music will be made, and life will be lived, and oranges will be cloved, and so on and so forth.
My eyes are beginning to go into sleep zone again, time to cut this soliloquy short.
Do you ever get that feeling that you've jumped off the Bridge of Sighs and you are falling downwards through the air, but you don't know if you'll hit the water or the rocks, you only know you're falling? That's where I am, in all it's stupid poetic glory.
I realize that not everyone gets my quirky/random/morbid sense of humor, and this saddens me, because I didn't think it was all that difficult to follow, but I suspect otherwise at times. Humor is so important to every relationship, and it is so polarizing as well in it's ability to divide by what one finds funny... One can change their mind, their behavior, but I cannot imagine being able to change that part of me that has random thoughts and says them out loud, or finds the potential for laughter in feminist poetry or a basket of fruit...that is what it is. I know I'm weird, but at least I don't ever pretend to be otherwise...I wear tea bags on my head, and I've got pics to prove it...I don't back down from challenges, and I always take a dare, that's my weakness perhaps. All aside, people's reactions to "me" never cease to surprise me, and I'm not getting any more normal here!;)
I received a bunch of fan presents from you guys the other day, I will go into detail later, but I love and am endlessly grateful your gestures, I truly am. Thank you!!!
I think I can try sleeping now, wish me luck...
Oh, but I should say that the baroque violin on the Corgan's album track is amazing, we left it dry against all the rock elements so that you can really hear the contrast and you feel the physicality of the playing and the woodiness of the instrument...I am very proud of how it's turning out. Back into the studio tomorrow...on two hours sleep...what's new?
This is to prove the "wearing tea bags on my head" statement, but at least I'm not the only one - there are those who would jump into the fire of public scorn with me as you can see:

[mod note: It’s impossible to know if these pictures are in the right spot, but I did my best based on other posts and the photos I had available to me]
The other night, LadyP, crysTAL, her sister Alta, and myself went to meet some friends for a birthday party at Chicago's famed gay club, Berlin. I'm predisposed to like Berlin because the last time I was there they recognized me and practically threw rose petals at my feet saying they'd been playing my record there for a year...never hurts;)
I was feeling excessively antisocial beforehand, and was strongly inclined to beg forgiveness and stay home working on the resurrection of the beats that had mysteriously vanished out of "Swallow" the night before...but of course I went along anyway...I always feel a bit buttressed once the corset goes on...hail to the stays!!!
In the cab on the way: it was a personal challenge to try and fit all four of us in the frame...
Upon arriving, I escorted LadyP to the powder room and found the broomstick in my previous post's picture outside the door. I then happened upon this:
I truly love the variety of footwear exhibited amongst our party...hurrah for individualism!
She pretends to be shocked but...
Hydration is ever so important to me and LadyP...
They had this fantastic film...Barbarella i think? playing on the wall... (funny detail: when I just now tried to type Barbarella, my 'puter suggested the spelling "Burbler" instead, which is one of the oddest sounds anyone could make)...
The THIS came on...what the bloody fuck is that?
LadyP decided to explore further...
I was trying to get LadyP to go up to the platform to dance with me, all the while standing on her skirt and wondering why she wasn't budging...that's my Mensa intellect working overtime...
Once off her skirt, the floor was ours...so much for our antisocial tendencies...
Not sure what's going on here...looks like I'm trying to coerce her to carry out some unspeakable act for the sake of my people...
LadyP is a great dance partner...we are going out for the celebrity ballroom championships next year...
Always stretch before any aerobic workout...
And consult with your doctor...
This is my five year old ballet training in action...three cheers and a cup of Earl Grey for anyone who figure out what my top says...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the best photo in the history of the universe.,..no?
LadyP and I spotted this adorable couple on the floor, and we named them "Keith & David" after the characters from Six Feet Under...we dedicated our dancing that night to them...
OK, now this was just cruel! I agreed to have my picture taken with this guy because I thought he was gay (decently-groomed guy with an accent comes up to me in a gay bar asking about my clothes, I'm gonna naturally assume...)...only after this was taken did I find out that he was not even slightly gay...not his fault I suppose, though I did feel horribly duped...
My spirits soon returned however...
Just at this moment, an "incident" occurred, and we had to leave, half of our party driving around in a cop car, the other half standing outside answering the questions of blank-faced tourists who wondered "why there were so many transvestites about"...welcome to gay pride weekend people!
At last, LadyP and I went home and decided there had never been a better time to cook a pot full of rice and stay up until dawn drinking sake and going through a bottle of citrus-flavored soy sauce...
