I've been meaning to do some more fanart of The Wiz (1978) for a while. I love how theatrical this Cowardly Lion is.

He's pretty expressive for a guy with no heart, huh?

Played some of the Fields of Mistria updates and felt possessed by the need to draw characters again. Ever since I got the recipe for berries and cream from Eiland, I felt the need to draw this.
Please excuse the slapdash sketches; I didn't feel like winging whatever's going on with the bottom of his clothes.

I took a break to work on some other stuff, but here's the next batch of Field of Mistria characters: Juniper, Dozy, Valen, Elsie, Nora, and Holt!
Elsie is here for the drama.

Still haven't rewatched The Wiz (1978) today. But I did make this rough comic about a thing I noticed. The Lion concerns himself with the Scarecrow's lack of personal space.
I felt like I wasn't able to get a good grip on drawing The Wiz characters, so tried my hand at making references for them.
Dorothy was easy enough. There's nothing too crazy going on with her clothes.
Scarecrow was easier and way more fun than I thought! He's just shapes! It helped that out of the production refs for each costume design, his was the only one that had notes. Still don't know what's going on with his hair and hat, but it's easy to draw. The hardest part was conveying the padding going on around his chin area.
Cowardly Lion was a little trickier than I expected. His production reference is a little inaccurate to the final design, but it was difficult for me to tell what's going on in the final design, because it's so fluffy. So his design is kind of a mix of both.
...And then there's Tin Man. I tried to simplify him a little bit. His colors are more cohesive in the movie, I swear.
