Elephants never forget, but is water their alcohol?

I'm pretty sure elephants (and any mammal/animal for that matter... right?) can get drunk off alcohol... but they drink water all the time, so if they're drinking water 'to forget,' I wanna go hug each and every one of them even more than I already do.

But I feel like 'water' could have been added in on purpose? Like there is some science side of this I'm missing, maybe?
