Recently launched distributor Bleecker Street has released the first trailer for Bryan Cranston’s Trumbo, two-and-a-half months before its Nov. 6 launch in the U.S.

The film is based on the true story of screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Cranston), who had been one of Hollywood’s top screenwriters before he was forced to testify in front of the House Committee on Un-American Activities in 1947. When he refused to cooperate, he was sent to prison for 11 months.

In the trailer, Cranston plays Trumbo as a chainsmoker with ample reservoirs of sarcasm and resourcefulness. “Many questions can be answered ‘yes or no’ only by a moron or a slave,” he tells the committee.

Trumbo turned to ghost-writing scripts in response to being blacklisted and was publicly credited in 1960 with Exodus, followed by Spartacus. “If we get one big movie, we can get all the big movies,” Cranston notes in the trailer.

Helen Mirren co-stars as Trumbo’s nemesis, columnist Hedda Hopper. Elle Fanning, Diane Lane, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg and Louis C.K. co-star in the pic, directed by Jay Roach.

Michael London’s Groundswell Prods. produces in association with Shivani Rawat, Monica Levinson and Nimitt Mankad through ShivHans Pictures. Bleecker Street, headed by Andrew Karpen, launched last summer and took on distribution of the ShivHans titles.

Though we’re still more than a year out from the actual election, plenty of stars have already completely disavowed the current Republican frontrunner… while one has given him his coveted endorsement.

Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin penned a scathing op-ed for Univision saying Trump’s attacks against Hispanic Americans make his “blood boil." The Puerto Rican singer was responding in particular to Trump’s treatment of Jorge Ramos, a journalist for Univision, who was kicked out of a Trump press conference after he confronted Trump on his views about immigration and citizenship. However, Martin’s op-ed is critical of all of Trump’s views on Hispanics, especially his belief that the 14th Amendment, which grants U.S. citizenship to all babies born in America, is unconstitutional. Martin writes that Trump’s strategies of "xenophobia as a political strategy” and “say[ing] atrocities and lies to remain relevant” are abhorrent.

Matt Damon

Matt Damon’s tone was less angry and more hurt when he discussed Trump’s views on immigrants in an interview with EFE. Damon, whose wife Luciana Barroso was born in Argentina, called Trump “xenophobic,” “disgusting,” and “dehumanizing.” Damon says he and his family watched the first GOP debate, in which Trump advocated for deporting 11 million immigrants and building a 1,900 mile wall to prevent further immigration into the country, together. “He is talking about anyone who lives south of our border in inhuman terms,” Damon said. “He is talking about my wife, my daughters.”

Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston’s comments that Donald Trump’s behavior was “refreshing” caught him more than a little flak. But he was careful, when speaking with the Nerdist podcast, to clearly state that he does not support the TV personality. “There’s something so refreshing about shaking up that world that is all about being handled, and here comes this loose cannon who has terrible ideas and would be a horrible president, but there’s something great about his ‘I-don’t-give-a-s–t’ attitude that really kind of keeps others honest,” Cranston said.

Shakira

Arguably Colombia’s best export, Shakira is, unsurprisingly, not a fan of Donald Trump either. In a series of tweets she called him and a speech of his “hateful and racist.” “No one living in this century should stand behind so much ignorance,” she wrote.

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria borrowed a page out of Trump’s own book, going in on the sentient toupée by comparing him to Adolf Hilter. Asked her response to Trump’s accusation that Mexican immigrants are either rapists or drug dealers, Longoria said she’d initially declined to comment so as not to “bring more attention to the original comments.” She did say though, “What I think he doesn’t understand and what people don’t understand is words create emotional poison. … Hitler moved a nation with words, just words.”

Neil Young

After Trump used “Rockin’ in the Free World” at his campaign announcement, Neil Young, who is typically an advocate of rockin’ was decidedly not having it. “Donald Trump was not authorized to use ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’ in his presidential candidacy announcement,” Young’s manager said in a statement. “Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for President of the United States Of America.” Bernie Sanders is free to rock.

Rob Schneider

Take a gander at Rob Schneider’s Twitter and you can’t get too far without seeing some sort of diss to Donald Trump. Schneider’s specific issue with Trump — as should be most everyone’s — is his views on immigration; Schneider’s wife Patricia is from Mexico.

Flo Rida

Flo Rida was just one of several people involved with the Trump-owned Miss USA pageant who pulled out following Trump’s offensive comments about immigrants. The rapper, who was scheduled to perform, was not a part of the show which took place last month. In addition, the pageant’s co-hosts Cheryl Burke and Thomas Roberts both pulled out, as well as the show’s judges Emmitt Smith, Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott, country singer Jessie James Decker, E!’s Terrence Jankins, and former Miss Universe Zuleuyka Rivera.

Becky G

Singer Becky G, who has Mexican heritage, uploaded a song called "We Are Mexico” to her YouTube page, writing in the description, “This is for you Donald Trump.” You tell him, you tiny little angel.

But no worries, Trump supporters, The Donald does have one celebrity endorsement: that of noted drug addict and wife beater Charlie Sheen, who’s said he would be honored to be Trump’s vice president. (It should be noted that Sheen’s real name is Carlos Estévez and he is of Spanish heritage.)

Amazon’s latest original pilot, Sneaky Pete, can boast to being the first show to take its inspiration from an Emmys acceptance speech. After winning his fifth Outstanding Actor statue for the final season of Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston took a moment to pay tribute to his childhood nickname, “Sneaky Pete,” the moniker bestowed on him by his family due to his penchant for scheming and taking shortcuts. The speech obviously stuck with veteran TV producer David Shore, because he teamed with Cranston to develop a series based around that name, with the former Walter White himself on board as a guest star.

It’s worth noting that Cranston isn’t the Sneaky Pete of Sneaky Pete. Instead, as this trailer shows, Giovanni Ribisi will inherit the mantle, playing a con man fresh out of prison who “borrows” his cellmate’s identity. That cellmate’s name? Pete, of course. Moving in with the real Pete’s family (Margo Martindale and Peter Gerety), the fake Pete discovers that his new relatives happen to be bail bondsmen… not exactly the kind of folks a recently sprung criminal should be associating with. Now he’ll just have to be extra sneaky to avoid detection and get a full season pick-up. Because, as with all Amazon pilots, viewer feedback will help determine whether Sneaky Pete will live to sneak another day.
