Forgive me for incoherentness it is 4:30 am, but a gilderat headcannon for you fic writers since I’m ass at writing!
Basically gilderoy wears amortentia as perfume, and is super used to having people say he smells lovely and asking his cologne and stuff so to him Peter is ‘just another fan’ (in his words) and doesn’t really stick out, until one day for one reason or another he doesn’t have amortentia, maybe he timed it wrong in between brewing batches wtvr that’s not the point, anywho all day students are telling him he smells different than usual, asking if he ran out of cologne, yadayada just basically commenting on how he smells different, but then he runs into the marauders and they all are saying he smells different too, and when they say that peter looks at them super weirdly and just says like “what are you lot on about? He smells exactly the same as always?? Peppermint, cinnamon, and green apples!” And from that day forwards gilderoy starts paying closer attention to pete
