I'm bored so im once again gonna do that thing where I just answer all of these questions because im the boss of this blog
1. What were their first impressions of one another?
Gale was delighted to find an ally like Varien off the bat. They were kind, willing to help him out, and had connections to a healer. Quite lucky, really! They were quick to show off just what a kind soul they were and made very fast friends.
Varien was smitten right off the bat. He was handsome, outgoing, and didn't seem judgemental about how awkward they are meeting new people.
2 .What was their first date like? If they haven’t been on a date yet, how would it go?
let's talk first date post game. Gale plans everything out perfectly. He wants to make a good first impression in Waterdeep's behalf. He'll take Varien to the finest, most secluded park where they will have a nice home cooked meal (Morena's moussaka recipe, because he knows how much they like their vegetables, and nothing says love like a casserole) After dinner, they go for a well-planned walk where they will encounter some lovely views. The date will conclude with Gale presenting Varien with the rings that he already picked out for them, and impresses Varien with his choice for theirs. They couldn't be disappointed with not picking it out on their own when they couldn't have done better themself. Surprising how well he knows them after having known them for a couple months.
3. It’s late at night and your characters want food, what do they order/find in the fridge?
They'll most likely bake something sweet together, like a loaf cake or some cookies.
4. What’s a typical Sunday like for them?
their off-day schedule is lax. Wake up late, maybe indulge in some sleepy loving activities. Then, Gale will make them breakfast as Varien checks on all their plants. They'll eat out on the balcony and discuss what they would like to do that day. At least once a week they'll go out and go on little shopping trips, even if it's just window shopping. they'll grab lunch while they're out and have a nice date at one of their favorite eateries with outdoor seating. Come home, snuggle up by the fire as they read their respective books until night falls. dinner, a shared bath with a glass of wine, and then it's off to bed. (maybe to sleep right away, maybe not. i definitely peg them as one of those couples that can't keep their hands off each other.)
5. What’s their love language like? Are they compatible with one another?
Gale's love language is sweet words, quality time, and gift giving. for Varien, it's all about physical affection and acts of service. they round each other out in this way, and Gale seems to be able to accept that Varien isn't particularly good with words. Still, they make it up to him by leaving notes. What they can't say they write beautifully. All in all, it works well for them!
6. Do they have any pet names/nicknames for eachother?
Gale calls Varien all kinds of sweet names. Dearest, my love, lover, my muse. Varien isn't good at coming up with these, so they just call him by his name, but they do it with their whole heart and intent and it seems to literally have some magically infused emotion to it.
7. What do they argue about?
That post I made about Arabella's studies. also, sometimes Gale gets a little too hyperfocused on his projects and can become somewhat reclusive, bordering on neglect if he's not careful.
8. Who does what chores, and why?
Varien takes care of all the plants, Gale can keep them alive, but they don't thrive like they do under Varien's care. Gale dusts because Varien has allergies. there's also some chores that are specific to Tara's needs that Gale has to do, because she's very particular and he knows exactly how she wants things done. Other wise, everything else is done equally.
9. What’s the most difficult thing they’ve been through together?
I mean. aside from the adventure that brought them together in the first place? Not sure anything tops that.
10. How do they make up after a fight?
Gale will present Varien with a bouquet of practical flowers and herbs with their roots in tact, something they can make use of. (it's how they can enjoy being given flowers without thinking about waste) he will also kneel and give a very long rehearsed apology. in their minds, rehearsed doesn't mean insincere, it's worth noting. it simply means he cared that much to do it right. and he is usually the one apologizing. If Varien is apologizing, they'll write and read out loud an apology letter, since they're better at collecting their thoughts if it's written out. they will also do a favor that will make his life easier, like organizing his scrolls or having dinner ready when he gets home.
11. Who causes the most arguments?
might have alluded to this in the last one but - Gale. He makes big decisions without consultation, he's ambitious to a fault so once he sees his end goal he doesn't care what gets left at the wayside, and he can be awfully jealous.
12. What would they say each other’s worst quality is?
Gale would say Varien's hesitance to speak up and how they'll allow anyone to walk all over them. Varien would say Gale's impatience.
13. What would they say each other’s best quality is?
Gale adores Varien's nonjudgmental approach to anything and their selflessness, and Varien loves that Gale shares what he knows without belittling others. (yeah you read that right mansplain truthers)
14. How would they describe one another if asked?
Gale describing Varien: thoughtful, gracious, beautiful, intoxicating both in mind and body. his saviour and the light of his life.
Varien describing Gale: handsome, fascinating, open-minded, their soul mate and, the quote him, their knight in magic armor.
15. What names are they saved as on each other’s phone?
Varien would be "My Beloved⚘️"
16. What would they consider quality time?
They will spend quality time going for walks, reading together, or even just existing next to each other doing their own thing. they're also very... physically inclined and can be very experimental about it.
17. Who decides which movies to watch?
even in a modern context Varien would have lived under a rock so not them.
18. How are they like on a road trip together?
They enjoy traveling together. being together and seeing what Faerûn has to offer is something they still do from time to time. they'll bicker about directions but otherwise it's just another one of the ways they have fun. they'll even play little travel games like I spy or the cow game.
19. It’s raining, did either of your OCs bring an umbrella? If so, who, and do they share it?
I'm imagining Gale being able to ward against rain somehow. gives Varien yet another reason to stand close. (secretly they don't mind rain and will happily raw dog it without even a hood)
20. What are they like when sharing a bed?
between the two of them there must be like 20 pillows on that bed. (Varien likes to arrange them like nest) they cuddle often, Varien is usually the little spoon but that changes during long cuddle sessions. sometimes Gale will rest his head on their chest, and vice versa. Gale snores but it's nothing too loud or disruptive, if anything Varien finds it oddly relaxing. they need their own blankets, they're both blanket hogs.
21. Who is better at games? Does the loser take it graciously?
Gale is more practiced at games that require thought, and Varien is a very good loser who's just happy to be included. anything that requires dexterity is something Varien would be better at. Gale tries to be a gracious loser but you can tell internally he's screaming.
22. Do they ever share clothes?
Varien is a serial clothing thief who claims Gale's recently worn garments that still smell like him. they're quiet a bit smaller than him so it doesn't exactly work both ways.
23. Your OCs are on a trip and there’s only one bed! What do they do?
let's say pre-relationship they'd do just fine. they hit it off immediately and Gale doesn't seem to be above sharing a bed with a friend if it absolutely must come to that. he may stick a pillow between them though, he appreciates his personal space.
24. What do your characters think about marriage? Are they for or against it?
Varien accepted his proposal so they absolutely get married.
25. Pick a physical attribute that they love about each other.
Gale loves Varien's eyes, their lips, and, let's be honest, they have a very nice butt. (they also have an intimate piercing he quite appreciates)
Varien loves Gale's beard (sorry Tara) and the silver streaks in his hair. they also love his hands and his brown eyes. and the belly.
26. Do any of them have bad habits that the other can’t stand?
Varien eats while reading. Gale can't relax while this is happening, he KNOWS they're getting crumbs in between the pages.
27. Who is more down to earth?
28. Are they affectionate in public? Is it too much?
they are. hand holding, kisses, hugs, whispers in each other's ears. Varien can get a little shy about PDA if they feel someone's watching, but it's an internal conflict because they also have an exhibitionist deep inside them who wants to do more. they mostly follow Gale's lead and he loves the show them off.
29. How are they affectionate in private?
it almost never stops in private, they're glued to each other. one might think surely they will get sick of it one day? but it's not likely. Varien's favorite thing to do is to lay on top of Gale and take little "naps" while he strokes their back.
30. How does your OC react to being broken up with?
Varien would probably immediately go into the forest as far away as possible and try to pretend they ever dared to open themselves up to love in the first place. back to being a hermit.
31. Do they fall in love easily?
Varien definitely does but until Gale they never really acted on it out of fear of it going wrong. Something that does prevent them from being 100% compatible is that Varien is polyamorous and has felt love for several people at once. twice even during their relationship, though they didn't act on it.
32. Your character is in love, do they confess? If not, how long do they wait?
Varien says nothing. does nothing. there's no hiding their interest obviously, they're nervous and blushing and giggling all the time. but they won't make the first actual move.

35. What moment did they realise that they were in love?
for Varien it was the midst of battle in the ruins where they met Withers. They already thought Gale was nice and good looking, but his concentration and bravery in the face of danger really did it for them.
for Gale it really hadn't really come together completely until the tiefling party. the attraction was building before then, especially when he was demonstrating the weave to them, but looking around and seeing all the joy because of their leadership made it bloom fully. and then as he's thinking about this they come up to him absolutely sauced and stupid wanting to rub his belly.
36. How long have they been friends? Would they consider each other best friends?
they were friends as soon as their second day on the road together. it was hard not to be when they could be themselves so easily with each other. and of course! they're both married to their best friend and enjoy every minute.
37. How did they become friends?
when Gale said "go to hell" Varien didn't cry even though they really wanted to. in fact they showed concern and listened to his thoughts. he appreciated their instinct to gain context before reacting.
we may never know because Gale threatened to cast a light ray of frost one time and that's all it took for Varien to never try to tickle him ever.
39. If your OCs has/had a child, who would be the stricter parent?
Gale would be such a perfectionist parent with such high standards for one of his own. would not recommend.
40. What do they do when they miss one another? Is one more needy than the other/s?
Gale probably sighs more and talks about Varien any chance he gets. Varien gets quiet and pensive and may not pay attention as often. Varien is the needier one for sure.
41. What green flags do they have for one another?
not to be autistic but I don't get this green/red/beige flag shit. pass.
42. Have they ever been jealous?
Gale's jealousy can be insufferable. He'll never ever lash out at Varien but he can develop an attitude problem towards anyone he perceives as over stepping. the good thing is he's not hateful toward Varien for catching feelings the way they do. he knows they mean it when they say they're just fine being with him alone (and do not come after me for this, I'm a polyam person in a happy monogamous relationship. we exist)
43. Is one more introverted/extroverted than the other?
Varien is very much the more introverted one
44. Who’s the better cook?
45. Are they good at comforting one another? Does someone hide their feelings usually?
nobody comforts them like each other. they just understand each other so well. Varien is good at hiding their feelings, but they always come up eventually. they can only hold on to them for so long.
46. Would they have been friends with each other in school?
honestly I don't think Gale would have even known Varien existed
47. Who made the first move?
Varien's sloppy ass at the tiefling party which is very out of character for them but wine has the tendency to make them... lustful, and brave.
48. Do they get on well with each other’s family? Is family important to them?
Varien's family is out of the picture. they get on well with Gale's family, though very large families can be very outgoing anyway so it's hard not to find at least one or two people you can jive with. family is very important to Gale. Varien is... uncomfortable with anything other than found family. they've come to feel it's something you earn. still, they make an honest effort.
49. Do they tease each other? What about?
they tease each other about little things that are insignificant and don't have to do with each other's worth. (🤨) they also like to tease and build tension for later bedroom activities, although that's a different kind of teasing.
50. Is there anything that scares them about their friendship/relationship?
sometimes Gale has his doubts about whether or not Varien can truly be happy with him in their monogamous arrangement. he knows he's enough now, but can't help but wonder if he always will be. Varien, meanwhile, worries much about Gale's human life span. will he be a long lived wizard with centuries to go? or will his life be a mere blink within their own? time will tell.
