Brunehaut (or Brunehilden), born around 547 in Visigothic Spain and executed in 613 in Renève (today Côte-d'Or), was a Visigothic princess who became queen of the Franks. She ruled at least one Merovingian kingdom (Austrasia or Burgundy) for thirty-three years. She is also famous for her murderous rivalry with another Frankish queen, Frédégonde, which led to numerous intra-family murders.
