Fancy Fri brunch by DOSC
This was actually a lunch I had while at work. .. Doesnāt it look amazing?!?!?!
NO, it was not funded by/sponsored by my workplace lol
Okay so, where to begin? I guess I first discovered the existence of this on Instagram. DOSC is a place I havenāt gone to many times; however, I like their cafe items. I havenāt actually had real food from here but Iāve tried 2-3 items that my friends have ordered & I liked them so. ..
Anyway, bcos of the pandemic, restaurants are trying innovative ways to keep/attract customers. DOSC, since a few weeks ago, have launched these brunch bentos that are available for pick-up or delivery from Thurs-Sun every week. There are 9 options, with prices ranging from $12-20. The 3 $12 options are currently on āspecialā - not sure if this is a long term deal or if itāll end soon...... but you could get any combo of the 3 for $30 (plus tax!). What a steal, hey?! $10 for a nice brunch :O I ended up calling on a Thursday late afternoon to place an order for Friday morning pick-up. Therefore on a working Friday, I went with 2 other coworkers to pick up our food!
NOTE: these bentos are refrigerated. Ie: it is not ready to eat; but itās cooked, so you just need to heat it up in the microwave for 3mins!
Mine was the French style brunch~
I didnāt read the fine print regarding the bread lol I was surprised it came with the bento. Normally, I would eat the whole thing but at work, Iām often strapped for time during lunch... like I donāt eat fast so I saved the bread for later bcos I know I wonāt be able to finish it all during my 30min break. Anywho, the French style bento... It contains 4 items (excluding the bread, which was a baked brie bread!):Ā *descriptions are from their website
1. Coq au vin - bacon, pearl onions, chicken thigh, carrots, button mushrooms, tomato paste, red wine, chicken stock
Chicken was super moist & of decent size. I also really enjoyed the mushrooms! However, overall taste was very salty =/
2. Cassoulet - Ā zucchini, white onion, carrots, celery, cannelloni beans, red tomatoes, bread crumbs, hunter sausage, chicken stock
I REALLY liked this soup! The sausage was quite fatty & thus, it was my favourite ingredient in this soup haha it reminded me of pork belly.
3. Green Bean Almandine - green beans, toasted almonds, shallot
Bland on its own....... but if you dip it into the coq au vin sauce, then itās okay.
Ratatouille - green zucchini, yellow zucchini, eggplant, red tomatoes
Iāve never had ratatouille before so Iām not how itās supposed to taste like.. . it is supposed to be on the more sour side?? It was kinda like warm/hot vinaigrette salad....... Not the biggest fan.
My favourite part of this bento was *drumroll* THE BAKED BRIE BREAD! I totally won my heart. It had a nice exterior crunch, well-flavoured, & a large piece of brie that was clearly separate from the bread portion but it all becomes one bcos itās soft & melt-y! Oh I loved it so much :D
