Third-Person POV:
āI do.ā
āI do.ā
āYou may now kiss the bride.ā
The Wedding Day had come by so fast, it seemed like moments passed instead of months. The reception was beautiful and when it finally came time for their āFirst Danceā Castiel led Y/N out to the dance floor. The first few bars of āThe Last Danceā by Frank Sinatra filled the room as the two of them twirled and whispered sweet nothings into each otherās ears.
āI love you Y/Nā Cas murmured.
āWake upā¦ā Y/N chanted. āwake up. Wake Up. Wake Up!!!ā and suddenly a strange blaring sound was falling from her lips, not a sound any human could make.
Castielās eyes snapped open and he turned off his alarm. Today was the day. The same day he took off work and bought flowers for every year. Y/Nās Birthday.
He kept himself composed as he drove to the Florist Shop, and then to Y/N. He walked right up to her and set the flowers down. The tears flowed freely now.
āI love you Y/N, I am so sorry I couldnāt save you.ā he sobbed. She wouldāve been 34 today, he thought to himself as he helplessly hugged at the stone angel atop your headstone. It had been carved in her likeness, with beautiful strong wings. He sat like that, sitting at her gravestone, crying, laughing, sitting in silence and then crying again, for hours.
He would visit her every saturday and he knew several of the workers at the cemetery. They always greeted him kindly but not today. Today they knew he needed to be alone.
āRemember that day? We had math together and I failed the first test of the year. I was so scared my parents would be furious but you hugged me and calmed me down.ā As the grown man sobbed against the headstone, his tears were nearly enough to wash it clean. āIt should've been the other way around. You were so calm and I was freaking out. I made you come home with me because my parents wouldn't kill me with a guest present.ā His breathing became shakier as he continued, āAfter dinner when were were talking, my mother wanted to know what you liked to do. I bragged about your voice and you blushed so much⦠When you went home my mom wasnāt even mad. She just wanted me to have you over for dinner again the next week. She told me that I should ask you out, and I was too damn shy. I didnāt know you cared for me.ā A soft, painful chuckle leaked out through the tears. āDean was always trying to play matchmaker⦠I should have listenedā¦. I am so sorry. You were 15⦠too young Y/N.ā He said, barely audible. āI couldnāt save you⦠I was supposed to protect you. I loved you and I was too afraid to tell you. I loved you Y/N⦠I still love you.ā
