Thief! || Liam & Brooke
Brooke was returning from a call out. A newborn had caught a fever, and so Brooke had been sent out to go and check up on the little one to see how they were doing. Luckily they were fine, a nice little cuddle with a cup of tea to give mum a break was all that was really needed. Whilst the mother had gone to make their drink, Brooke had taken the liberty to ever so carefully bring the babyās temperature down and calm him, she imagined that fever would be gone by tomorrow now. She tried to avoid fully healing people, just giving the initial push to help people get better on their own, she felt it was just⦠Safer that way. To make ailments magically disappear was certainly a gift, but one Brooke felt couldnāt truly be good for you in the long term. How could your body learn otherwise?
The mother just seemed relieved that she got an hour of peace, and yet again Brooke heard the words āYou always calm me down when youāre here.ā yes, yes she knows. As much as sheād love to say itās her glowing charm and professionalism, it was just that innate aura she held. The calm had to come to an end however, and Brooke had to get going.
She was walking through the town square, pausing to peruse a pop up jewellery stand, finger tapping against her lip thoughtfully. A shell necklace had caught her eye, and she was just reaching to open her purse when suddenly she was bumped into - hard from behind, knocking her into the stall with a yelp. The proprietor leaned over to help her, āSorry! God he was in a rush wasnāt he?ā She laughed it off, but then went to resume getting her purse to find it was gone!
Brooke immediately snapped up and looked down to see the figure bolting through the square - with her bag in his hand! āHey! Stop that guy! He stole my purse!ā She yelled after him before starting to go after him herself. Shit, this was really not the right day to have worn heels!
Liam had just walked out of the sweet shop, a little goody bag hanging from one of his fingers. Heās snatched up a few pieces for Cassandra while heās tried to talk to the proprietor of the shop. Sadly, he had not been allowed to speak to her because apparently, she wasnāt there. The young would behind the counter had stuttered out where to find her and heād bought a few bits of candy to ease her mind. For some reason the second the shield was flashed, people got a bit wary and nervous.Ā
He pulled the keys from his pocket and unlocked the door to the unmarked detective's car he drove, before chucking the candy into the passengerĀ seat and shooting Cass a message about where Ash was. Some dude named Nico Salveggioās. That meant nothing to him, but perhaps Cass would know who he was. She knew more the town members anyway. The phone slid into his back pocket and he moved to get into the car but stopped when he heard the shouts of a woman behind him.Ā
Liam turned in time to watch a man run past it and hear a woman scream that he stole her purse. That was enough for Liam and he took off, feet hitting the pavement at a dead run.Ā āPolice,ā he shouted,Ā āStop right there!ā this never actually worked and he hadnāt expected it to, so he kept moving legs working to push him faster and hard. The dress shoes he wore with his suit were ill suited for the pursuit and he cursed as he slid past the corner the thief had ran down. He corrected and found himself in a dead end, the purse snatcher had dropped the purse in favor of attempting to climb a retaining wall, but Liam caught him before he had a chance.Ā
āGet down here,ā he said, hand wrapping around the shirt of the assailantĀ before he tugged him to the ground.Ā āYouāre under arrest,ā Liam told him knee pressing into his back as he pulled cuffs from his back and synched them around thin wrists. When the guy was cuffed, Liam hauled him up and pushed him forward, hand wrapped around the link to the cuffs. He snatched up the purse that had been dropped and made his way back to the cruiser to deposit the criminal and return the purse to the poor woman.Ā
āI believe this is yours,ā he said when he was finally able to present the woman with what she had screamed for loudly to save.Ā
