Bridging the gap || Imogen & Brooke
Imogen wasn't sure if her grandparents would really like that she was going to Brooke's for dinner. In fact, she was pretty sure they'd actually hate it. So it was a relief to her when she found out that they were going out for dinner by themselves. Spice or somewhere, for an evening out, probably to de-stress. It meant she wouldn't have to lie because Imogen was sick of lies. She was tired of betrayal and deceit. Why did it have to feel like such a massive part of her life? She wished she could be normal. Stop worrying about -A, stop having secrets come out, just stop... Imogen jumped in the shower once her grandparents left and then hurried through to her room to get changed. Once she was ready (early) she text Brooke to say she'd be there in about a half hour and grabbed a notebook and pen. She had no idea why the older blonde needed her text messages, it was silly as far as she could tell. How were a few texts going to lead her and Mr. Baker to -A? Still, she'd said she'd write some down and let her see them.
Over the next half hour, Imogen really did try to go through her inbox and write some of them down but... she kept feeling stupid and angry as she looked through them, trying to sort out which ones to let Brooke see, and eventually she gave up trying and decided not to give her any. Not right now at least. Not until she could go through them all without feeling like she wanted to punch a brick wall a hundred times. Maybe that would actually help.. but she didn't have time to find out as she grabbed her bag (which already had the papers in it) and flew down the stairs. She was actually kind of nervous, or anxious, was that stupid? She wasn't sure.. but this woman had turned out to be her real mother and Imogen still didn't know what to do with that. She slowed her pace as she walked across the street, looking around her in case she caught sight of anyone lurking but as usual there was nobody. "Great." She muttered to herself as she walked up the path to Brooke's front door, wondering if she should use the key she'd been given, but knocking instead because it still felt weird.
