Kattigan's interaction with Thjazi's body spelled out something important and true (and it is both of those things, it was a natural 20 investigation); Thjazi did not need to make it out. he was not scared as a prisoner, and not relieved when he was told the ward was in place. he trusted, but no, he did not need to keep living for himself. he already weighed the price to live this way as a younger man. his family needed him, and his comrades needed him. but he had them all along. it is a paradox for person to die happy at their execution, a victim of ultimate injustice. but Thjazi was victorious in life.

maybe there is something to be said about how Thjazi was not so attached. it is intentional for a player character to point out that being away from your devoted spouse for 5 years is cruelty. there is a way to say that Thjazi chose his life and in exchange knew he'd be giving it up, and doubt that it wouldn't just be worth it for himself, but for all those who would lose him.

for those who needed him, everything fell apart. for Thjazi, not knowing what death holds in this new world, a great life was finished.
