POV: You're Being Gaslit by a Startup Sadhu on Google Meet
There’s a special kind of couple that emerges when spreadsheets flirt with stardust. Two people—well-educated, well-networked, well-versed in the gospel of LinkedIn motivation posts—who’ve decided to take the business meets spirituality genre to its most ironic climax. He, the husband: a corporate veteran turned self-declared energy whisperer. She, the wife: startup-schooled, agile-pivoting, KPI-citing co-founder and spiritual manager. Together, they’re not just selling Vastu. They’re selling the idea of selling belief—digitally scaled and algorithmically enhanced. Currently, he says he’s offering his services for free to people he knows. A noble gesture, if it weren’t wrapped in the smugness of market seeding. It’s not charity. It’s product testing with astrological packaging. And when some Instagram wellness bro with a fake accent and a ring light invited him on a podcast to talk about spatial energy, he took it like a TED Talk invite from the cosmos. She, meanwhile, carries the air of someone who’s seen enough pitch decks to consider Vastu a category-creating business vertical. Her language is all synergy and flow and emotional ROI. Except, when it comes to sales, she—and he—seem to think it’s beneath them. You’ll get 25 percent commission, they say, with the enthusiasm of someone offering prasad. No fixed pay. No monthly retainer. Not even the decency of fuel reimbursement. Because hey, sales is easy, right? Nope. It’s just you who’s supposed to do the running, pitching, convincing—while they sit back in their aligned home office sipping tulsi tea and tracking vibrations on an Excel sheet. And now comes the final boss level: they're planning to merge Vastu with AI. Yes. The same belief system based on birth charts, directional flow, and ancient thumb rules is now going to be automated. Your house will soon be judged by an algorithm trained on semi-spiritual nonsense and three YouTube videos. You’ll input your floor plan and date of birth, and AI will tell you your kitchen is jealous of your love life. Maybe your balcony has anger issues. Maybe your ceiling fan is the reason you can’t keep a job. It’s not just absurd. It’s weaponised woo. It’s placebo therapy as a service. A full-blown SaaS model for fear. And the scary part? They’re so earnest about it. So confident. So enlightened. It’s like watching a TEDx Talk delivered by a couple who believe they’re both Steve Jobs and Sadhguru in the same human form. What they’re building isn’t just a business. It’s a performance. A high-conviction, low-empathy spectacle where technology meets mythology, and capitalism pretends it’s doing inner work. They’ll sell you energy maps, zone-wise activations, and birth-chart remedies… but they won’t sell you honesty about how hard it is to make that sale. They’ll talk endlessly about value—but won’t assign any to the human being carrying their product to market. So here’s the real alignment check: you can align your northeast corner. You can align your soul. You can even align with some startup bro’s podcast audience. But if you can’t align with the basic dignity of paying the person who sells your dreams, your energy is off. And no AI can fix that. This couple is the final form of startup spirituality—dripping with polish, powered by privilege, wrapped in incense, and built on the unpaid labour of others. Vastu may be about direction. But what they really need is redirection. Straight back to humility.
