@volucerrubidus has ordered one (1) attention, please.
Tim hovers by Dick's side-- his dead giveaway, 'I want physical affection, and I'm too bad at expressing my emotions verbally to ask for it,' tell.
"What're you up to?" He asks, feigning a casual tone. "Anything I can help with?"
dick is more than familiar with this song and dance. still, a smile tugs at his lips as he pretends not to notice tim right away, or the way he’s hovering just a bit inside dick’s personal bubble - well, the one that exists in theory. on a general human level. his own concept of personal space is all but nonexistent.
“trying to read this book.” he admits with a wry smile, finally glancing up. “i saw jason reading it and thought it might be fun to yknow. talk to him about it. but...” a small, sheepish shrug. reading’s never been a huge strong suit of his. doesn’t mesh well with his attention span, or his need to be in motion whenever possible. every once and awhile one catches him and he can’t but it down. unfortunately, this isn’t one of them.
needless to say, tim is a welcome and worthy distraction.
“don’t think you can help much with that, but i’m ready to give it a break anyway.” he dog-ears the page and throws an arm around tim’s shoulder, pulling him into his side. “you bored? wanna do something?” and maybe dick sounds a little too eager to be away from the book. it’s fine. it’s nothing.
