A child writes to Santa, but, instead of asking for something, the child asks what Santa wants for Christmas. From that wish, comes Holly Claus, Santa and Mrs. Claus’ daughter. She is kind and intelligent, but, unfortunately, she can never leave because if she is not cold all the time her heart will literally break (thanks to a curse of course).

Still, she is not to be deterred (it would have been a boring book if she had been deterred), and she finds out a way to get to Empire City (aka Victorian New York). Through her adventures can she break her curse, and the curse of her people?

Okay, okay, I admit that this isn’t quite a graphic novel. Nope. But, the illustrations, when they’re put in there, they are so amazing. They were done by Laurel Long, and, they brought a really great story even more to life than I thought they could. Awesome.

i did not know this, dear anon!!! but now i’m going to research the heck out of it because ‘the legend of holly claus’ is genuinely my favourite book and i would love love love to see it brought to life as a ballet! 

it’s to tchaikovsky! i can just imagine how dreamy it must have been to see. i can’t find any news of it past 2015, but i do hope it’s been recorded so it can live on and other companies can do it in the future.
