Comic Book Saturday
A child writes to Santa, but, instead of asking for something, the child asks what Santa wants for Christmas. From that wish, comes Holly Claus, Santa and Mrs. Clausâ daughter. She is kind and intelligent, but, unfortunately, she can never leave because if she is not cold all the time her heart will literally break (thanks to a curse of course).
Still, she is not to be deterred (it would have been a boring book if she had been deterred), and she finds out a way to get to Empire City (aka Victorian New York). Through her adventures can she break her curse, and the curse of her people?
Okay, okay, I admit that this isnât quite a graphic novel. Nope. But, the illustrations, when theyâre put in there, they are so amazing. They were done by Laurel Long, and, they brought a really great story even more to life than I thought they could. Awesome.

HUFFLEPUFF: "You love these people so much, I know, butâbutâ wonder if you are too generous. Now here is another one who knows about our country, and perhaps he will tell others. Look at de Lusus. Look at Mylius. They reveal our secrets." Nicholas stared at the sky. âSecrets are worthless until you give them awayâ he said softly. âIf this one tells, and I think he won't, the story will only bring more hope into the world, and that is what I desire."

Did you know The Legend of Holly Claus became a ballet in 2015 called Holly Claus: The Ballet of Dreams?
i did not know this, dear anon!!! but now iâm going to research the heck out of it because âthe legend of holly clausâ is genuinely my favourite book and i would love love love to see it brought to life as a ballet!Â
itâs to tchaikovsky! i can just imagine how dreamy it must have been to see. i canât find any news of it past 2015, but i do hope itâs been recorded so it can live on and other companies can do it in the future.
if you have any other information about this ballet, please send it my way! it was put on at cordiner hall in walla walla, washington by the dance center.

I might of just bought The Legend of Holly Claus by Brittney Ryan for my kindle. It was one of my favorite holiday reads all the way up into middle school and I reread it every year. At some point I think I gave my copy away (and I donât remember why???) so ebook it is this year until I track down another copy. Not that Iâm knocking ebooks, I just prefer physical copies, especially when there are lovely illustrations.
