Moon 0: Brightpelt is fighting with Fernfur
Brightpelt snarled, shoving his face uncomfortably close to Fernfurâs. âWhat do you mean Ravenleaf is going to be Fuzzypawâs mentor now? Whoâs been working to train him the past two moons despite everything!?â
Fernfur leaned back, face neutral despite the aggression being pointed his way. âYou know why, Brightpelt. We need two medicine cats available so we arenât left without a medicine cat again, and Fuzzypaw has shown an interest in herbs.â
Brightpelt snorted, lashing his tail. âYeah, right. You think I didnât notice that the other two apprentices in the Clan are conveniently yours and BoragebâBoragestarâs, but you think giving my apprentice away is fine?â He narrowed his eyes, leaning in again. âBesides, obviously Fuzzypawâs going to want to help Ravenleaf; theyâre brothers!â
Fernfurâs fur was ruffled, his tail swishing from side to side, but he still tried to maintain his calm, claws just barely sinking into the ground beneath him. âJust as you say youâve been training Fuzzypaw for two moons, Iâve been training Shadepaw for four,â he replied smoothly, âand Boragestarâs worked with Lakepaw for three. And I donât see those two miraculously gaining any interest in herbs.â
Brightpelt flattened his ears, a hiss bubbling at the back of his throat, but he lowered his head, eyes still smoldering. âFine. I acknowledge your logic. But Iâm not happy about this, Fernfur,â he threatened, growl rumbling along the edges of his voice.
Fernfur stepped over to him, laying a tail over his back and smoothing some of the spiked up fur. âYou know I wouldnât do this if it wasnât necessary, Brightpelt. Besides, there are still two kits in the Clan; weâll see if you can train one of them.â
Brightpelt nudged his tail off, stepping back, and muttered a âfineâ under his breath before turning and stalking towards the warriorâs den. Fernfur watched him leave, sighing.Â
I hope this doesnât cause us unnecessary trouble in the future.
