Two new cosplay costumes from my Wuxia inspired webnovel serial “Bright Morn of Issareth” on the Kindle Vella platform that I’m thrilled to provide from fabulous artist Rachel Anne Jones.

Top is a member of the Wuding Hua (Roof Flower) an elite group of men and women patrolling the rooves of the city. They were called Roof Flowers by parents telling their children they were on the rooves to protect them. When they jump down their uniforms flare out like flower petals.

Second picture is a member of the Mo Zhanji (Mo fighters) a group of women who banded together under the Mo Sisters (from a family of martial artists) after their men were conscripted for a war, leaving the women, children, helpless and elderly to the misery of criminals and petty street thieves.

Synopsis:

Bright Morn of Issareth, is a Calaryn, a dying race of all men, no women. They live to 200 and are reborn when a willing human woman, usually a wife, agrees to absorb their soul and rebirth them. As children they appear human, until puberty when their Calaryn genes take over and their wife-mother guides them through their changes.

Bright Morn's mother died in childbirth leaving an unstable aunt to raise him. At nineteen he was on his own, not understanding what it was to be a Calaryn. He had exceptional abilities, could feel and know what was around him, small wounds healed themselves, his eyes changed and colors ran under his skin. As he grew closer to his 30th birthday, he began reliving memories from past lives.

He was found one night, near death after a street fight, by Old God, a Calaryn close to the end of his 200 years, seeking the bloody history of the Calaryns, how they came to be and what their purpose was in the world. A quest Morn was happy to join.

This is Volume One (seven are complete) of a multi-volume story inspired by the Wuxia sagas from China: tales of near superhuman warriors with skills touched by legend and truth. Interwoven into Morn's story are the memories of his past lives and who he was, whether a simple army grunt, a fugitive, or a king. This is Morn's first step on his journey through a fictional land spanning dozens of dynasties.
