Handful of Jewish thoughts from the past few months
-Currently reading Mazaltob by Blanche Bendahan, 1930. Havenāt gotten too much into it but itās really interesting so far. Some of the language confuses me and I wonder if the translation Iām reading is entirely accurate. What was the language it was originally in again? (Language I can also read) oh. well. Iām not gonna pay for another copy. Anyway, Iāve been reading a lot of Yiddish lit and I wanted to branch out and oh man⦠what a great place to start Iām liking it so far. I might write a full review at some point. Iām a very slow reader right now because of migraines :/
-Having a lesbian Rabbi is life changing like Iāve had great rabbis of all sorts but itās just so different when she not only understands where Iām coming from as a Jewish woman and a gay woman but also shows that itās possible to be in a loving Jewish lesbian relationship. After having a resurgence of internalized homophobia last year, this change has been really refreshing even if I know Iām leaving soon.
-Every time I read a book about Judaism Iām like āok interestingā and I go online and half the reviews are like āthis book doesnāt even mention Judaism once!ā and the other half are like āthis is literally the Bible of Judaismā what!!!
-Reading Emma Lazarus again⦠if you need a summary of my mental state..,
-Trying to mold Judaica-inspired clay pieces but Iām not good at molding clay. At all. Itās a process and Iāll get better but woof itās been rough so far. At least they arenāt shattering while baking
-Sometimes Hebrew is pictures. In a way
