How does one act normal at a time like this? Teodor thought it was a joke. His government and officials knew what they were doing. They knew the history. Still, Teodor forced a smile, his head tilted to the side in fondness. It was meantto be London meeting with him. ‘Reginald—’ he greeted, standing and flattening out his tie against his shirt. Should they shake hands? Should they hug? How do you greet an ex on official business?‘I—You look well. I hope the drive down was okay? Is—Um, is Charlie… away?’ He sat back down, almost missing his seat in the process, his face alight. ‘You know I wouldn’t have made you come all this way if I knew he wasn’t here, right?’ They were sat in a small café in the south of London on a diplomatic mission – one of many that Teodor had to take each year. Usually, he would meet with London or England, chat for a while – maybe even stroll around a nearby park and post some pictures – but this? This was anything but normal. The Romanian pressed his lips together. ‘How are you?’ His voice held far too much tenderness.
