Self-indulgent detail work, really leaning into that brush texture! If all you have is a paintbrush, then you use a paintbrush. Working nose to tail, so his front quarter is done, his middle half is in progress and his rump is just blocky base colors. 

Ok favorite part so far is painting manes and tails and white ticking. Never thought that’d be the case but there is something very satisfying about painting with a good fine brush and the right thinness of watered-down white acrylic. Need to go back over some markings but I get now why the hobby is 85% wild sabinos by volume! 

Grey plastic-bonding primer down, layer 1. Man, you really can see all the flaws when the primer is down. Also why is one side of the face super detailed on the Arab stallion and one side... not. I will dremel them both a tad more and do another round of primer before painting. The texture is super nice but it doesn’t feel hard yet, probably needs a good 24 hours between coats. Also it is very wet here, and that may be a factor in drying time right now.

I tried both the Pine-Sol method and the Easy-Off oven cleaner method. Of the two, the Easy-Off cleaned a model in about 15 minutes, compared to Pine Sol’s overnight-and-scrub. Pine Sol is the less toxic/less smelly of the two, though! For the Easy-off, I put the model in a bag, sprayed the oven cleaner in the bag, sealed it and worked it around in there. The bag is on model #3 right now, just with a little more added oven cleaner each time. Keeping it in a bag helps trap fumes and other annoyances. It does take off OF paint though!
