#doll customizing

Peroxide bleached Malibu Francie head on a Xinyi body (the neck has been modified to work with vintage turn-only heads), and stock tan Malibu Francie head, with a curly blue reroot, on a Project MC2 body, with old IT hands, and very awkwardly attached Barbie feet. They've both had their lips painted pink and teeth touched up, and bleachy has extra light reflection dots, but the rest of their paint is stock

Last year, BGBF sent a box of doll stuff that included a Malibu Francie. The doll's head was in rough shape, with the vinyl faded on the nose and part of the lip (exposed by rubbed-off paint), as well as the whole head having pits, but the body was in really good condition. As a joke, I put the tan Odile mermaid head, which he'd also sent, on that body, and the result was so similar to Teen Skipper that I kept the combination.

The head, though, sat in the head box, and I honestly thought I'd never do anything with it. I know it's common practice to touch up faded head vinyl with alcohol (I think) markers, but I don't have any and didn't want to spend money on this head, with the pitting damage, anyway.

I thought about the experiments earlier this year with de-yellowing old doll heads, in a jar of 3% hydrogen peroxide in the sun, and wondered: since this head had pigment that was already fading in spots, could I use the hydrogen peroxide treatment to bleach it to a more uniform color?

This is the first doll I ever customized. I recently decided I wanted to redo her face up and I’m a little unsure what to do about her hair.

I absolutely love her long, fluffy hair, but the obvious difference in texture between the two yarn colors is throwing me off. I’d love some advice on what others think.

Should I leave her hair as is? Redo it with new yarn? Or should I use a completely different material for her hair?
